If it makes you feel better i tried to get a paid job for 7 years... and failed.. you'd be surprised how many final interviews i made it to, but as soon as it came down to explaining the effects of my epilepsy i would always get turned down for jobs...
Sadly the world isn't very fair to those who have medical issues that hinder them a lot.

Sonicmcmuffin : Wow thats awful. Work for people with disabilities is pretty rare in America too. It's only getting worse with people trying to take away their financial aid and protections.
I've been looking into self emplyoment jobs since I probably won't be able to find reliable work until I'm 18. I think retail arbitrage is something that I'd be good at. There are people making their livings off flipping things found at yard sales and thrift stores online. The only problem is that I'd like to have at least a hundred dollars to start out with. I'm hoping I can find a job that will last me at least a few weeks.

earthwarrior : I hope your not basing that on tv shows, every single show that is about finding relics or stuff is usually staged to no end.  The issue with becoming self employed is that it can take years to become financially sustainable. It also has much higher risks of just becoming bankrupt and the such.

Regardless if you do go down that path I wish all the luck to you, but if you are really looking for a job I'd consider looking in some of the areas such as care and customer service.... there's always usually jobs in those areas here... but alas I am from the UK.

It's much harder to get on the ladder than it is to remain on it after all.

Sonicmcmuffin : No, I'm basing it on regular people who have done it. And the fact that I've seen places that had undervalued things first hand. I'm not expecting to make a ton of money starting out and I have little to risk since I have no expenses.
Most customer service jobs require you to be 18 years old in the US. I have over 7 months left until I'll be able to do them.

Depends on if you live in a big city or anything. Aim for food service or retail.

Resumes are everything. When applying, a cover letter gets you in there.

Make sure when doing your resume you talk about skills you have, and ensure your grammar and whatnot is flawless. Name any hobbies you have and it helps if they describe a point of responsibility. Great at bartering on Craigslist for video games? You better believe it'll impress them.

Ever win perfect attendance awards at school? Scouts? Anything like that, a school club or team or any extracirricular activities need to go on there.

When it comes to interviews, look up common questions and practice and study your answers. Be prepared.

I work at a bank right now and I am going for my masters degree in Business Administration. I learned a lot about getting hired in college. If you need any help crafting a resume or anything like that, feel free to PM me.

Man I have been there more than once, and it really sucks. The thing I can tell you, is try places no one else wants to work at. These jobs will not be fun at all, but will bring in money. Other thing try everyplace you can find, and keep going back ever so often.  Most of all don't give up. You will find one just hold your head up.

alexanyways : I think I had a pretty good resume, but it is missing a cover letter. I'll definitely try to add stuff to it. My problem has always been getting an interview so that will help.

Droog : I applied to most places I could, but there may be some more that I missed. I hope you were able to find one. Good luck if you haven't!

Usually it takes luck but also it takes in a lot of effort. Sometimes applications just isn't going to be enough. Go out and talk to people, make friends with business people. And if you apply places you just have to accept the business owners not to higher you. But never give up and keep on going to it. In the meantime if I were you I would mow lawns, twitch, YouTube, all ways to pick up some cash.
