Recently, I just realized I have to work 9 days in a row! Uggh! Working can be tough. Have you ever been called in when you really don't want to? Do you get paid less than you'd expect? Would you rather be doing something else entirely? Do you have financial troubles often? I understand. Please share your thoughts.

Yeah.

I've had to tear shingles off, come back the next day in heavy rain and put new shingles back on. I've roofed in rain and wind so bad that when the rain fell off the roof, the wind just blew it back on- literally.

I've worked in temperatures hot enough to melt the tar based shingles if you step on them too hard. It's been so hot that I've gotten dizzy and had to get off the roof. It's at about that same temperature that you have to quite shingling because there's no way you aren't ruining just by stepping on them.

I've worked 9, no, 11 IIRC days in a row just to make ends meet because we have to beat the rain before we get to far into autumn. Otherwise it will rain for to many days in a row and we'll never have enough time tear shingles off and get a new roof.

I've set forms, run the rod on concrete, and spent hours doing touch up after the fact so that the surface doesn't look ugly with nothing but a trough.

I've done it all with an overbearing boss who expects too much of us and had way to much stuff done for him at an early age. A guy with a short temper and who's terrible at communicating. Every employee will tell you about that with him. Some find his temper tolerable mostly because it doesn't last. But he outbursts easily.

I hate my job.

I make 35$ an hour in the summer doing government jobs and get almost five months off just from rain. That's when I work on my book series and other things.

That's why I still do my job.

Whatever the hell life want's from me, I can dish it. I call in sick maybe 2 days out of the year. After a week of roofing, I hardly move on Saturdays because my muscles are so sore from walking on an incline and carrying the fiberglass filled stuff back and forth over the course of 20 feet again and again and again.

I'm proud of my job. I don't want to do it forever, but I'm proud that I can do it.

That's all I have to say.
Yeah.

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

I rarely get paid for work so I know how it feels working long hours for absolutely nothing. It can be depressing and stressful however I enjoy the feeling of getting something accomplished. I hate feeling lazy and doing nothing, this past week has been pretty bad work wise for me but hopefully I can pick it up again to where I was so I can get things done.

I never complain about work, only because I really enjoy the pay that comes from it, even though it's minimum wage. I just try to save for moving out, college, retirement, I just want to be well off.
