So we just witnessed the Augusta game last week, and man what an upset that was. Going into round four Sergio Garcia looked like he was going to be the uncontested winner, but around the turn of the front nine (If I recall correctly) he began slipping, and Justin Rose started climbing up and took a solid lead. Then in a bizarre turn of events, Garcia hit an incredible streak of birdies and great shots all around while Rose started missing putts and hitting a little off the mark. It would have taken a very specific turn of events to cost Justin Rose the game after the first few holes on the back nine, but those events unfolded perfectly up until the ninth hole when Rose missed his putt and sealed the win for Garcia... only Garcia missed his too. xD The playoff was a big letdown though, since it was all but a given after the tee shot that Rose sent off course and practically handed Garcia the hole.

Long story short, if you missed it, Sergio Garcia won his first major by two strokes in a playoff against Justin Rose. Yeah. I guess Rose can't complain too much though, since he won over a million dollars for it. lol

So was anybody else watching? And will you be watching the tournament this weekend? I've been following it personally, though I'm not as invested in it as I was in the tournament last weekend (obviously). I know golf isn't the biggest sport around here, but surely I'm not the only one on here that enjoys it, am I?

How could we miss this moment in Spain, he's only the third of our golfers to win a big tournament. Didn't watch it directly, but the final moments were spread throughout all the local channels besides the one dedicated entirely to golf.

While golf can be enjoying to watch, it takes just too long with very little physical effort. True is that there are several factors to consider, but I personally dislike when any sport lasts too much and in golf everything lasts too long for my patience. I'll keep up on the news about the big tournaments but that's it, the timezone differences aren't worth to watch them directly nor I have any free time over all the other sports I follow to watch them.

EX Palen : Oh wow, I knew he was only the third Spaniard to win a Major, but I had no idea that pretty much the entire country was watching him. We'll he earned that victory for sure, even if Rose handed it to him two holes in a row, because he had to do some amazing golfing to even tie it up before the eighteenth. That was quite a show he put on.

I get that it takes a long time, but what I usually do is turn it on while I work. That way I can follow it while remaining moderately productive. Now don't get me wrong, I could watch it all without doing anything during the game and stay interested, and I've done that before. I just feel so lazy and unproductive if I'm not doing something for that long. That's the same reason I don't watch films. But yeah, I can see not wanting to invest that much time into it, and the time difference would be insane.

Eirinn : If anybody does something important in any sport, they're sure to appear in the TV. The stupid soccer is omnipresent in the news reports throughout the whole day and week, so any slight chance they have of showing big news regarding other sports will not be ignored. There's always a spot for other sports in the newspapers, but TV-wise is just like this.

You basically described your watching of golf like if you were listening to the radio. I can follow a few sports that way, but let's be honest: if you watch a sport it's to witness the action live. I see no use in actively following an event through just the voice or having the TV on and going to watch it every now and then to stay updated on what's happening. If I can't sit back and enjoy, I'm not following it.

In golf's case, the time difference wouldn't be that insane. I actively follow Indycar live and they tend to race at dinner time here, so golf wouldn't be that much away. Still, staying up past dinner time to watch golf is very difficult, I can barely follow the sports I treasure the most at those hours.
