Mednafen doesn´t respond to my keyboard

I recently tried to play Mystic Ark. Unfortunately, the game, and the emulator for that matter, doesn´t respond to anything. I tried pressing F1 to open the help menu, that does nothing, I tried to press enter, that does nothing. My whole keyboard does absolutely nothing on the emulator. I can´t even get the emulator to go full screen.

Can anyone help me fix the controller problem? I use Firefox, by the way. I didn´t have this problem when I was playing The 7th Saga.

This is a shot in the dark, but did you try clicking the game screen before using the keyboard to play? 

If you don't click the actual game's screen ( the part that literally displays the game, not the parts around it that say "Vizzed RGR ... etc." ) then the emulator won't pick up that's what the keys are being used for. 

If this doesn't help, hopefully someone else can give you a better answer  : /

It doesn´t work. It does respond to right clicks, but it doesn´t seem to do so for left clicks.

So if I can´t use Firefox, what are my other options? Not chrome because that slows down my computer to a halt for at least 15 minutes, so my only option is Edge, and that doesn´t work with the plug-in version I have.
