So, in January, I'm going to buy an electric skateboard. I want to get a Boosted+ from Boosted Board, but I don't want to pay $1,400 for it. So, I would like to know what other alternatives are out there that are actually decent. I've done some research of my own, but I can't find any concreate evidence to sway my decision.
If anybody has done any of their own research, or has an electric skateboard that they can give me feedback on, I would greatly appreicate it.

What I am mostly concerned with is the Incline, Speed, and Battery Life. Also, of course, price.

Not to mention, you would have to put down $100 to reserve it. It says it has a 12 mile range, but it will depend on many things such as its charge level, the terrain, and the weight of the rider and whatever they have on them. I would hope it is far safer than those stupid hoverboards that seem to catch fire all the time.

I suppose it would help if we knew your intentions with the board. I am always skeptical of those that are completely electric powered. I refuse to buy a completely electric car, because of the cost and range. They are basically only good for short trips like groceries and such,as we have few electric charging stations.

Oldschool777 : Nothing too serious. Just around town. It's 2.5 miles or so to campus from my apartment, and then I'll be going around campus. I'll also be traveling an additional 2 to 2.5 each way on Tuesday and Thursday as I'll be taking a class that is off campus. So...  I need something around at least 10 mile range on a single charge.

I think a bike or scooter would probably be better for you. You are looking for something that is easy enough to maneuver through traffic and is low to no fuel cost and probably no insurance cost as well.

Oldschool777 : The thing is, my knees having been doing so hot the past few months. I've been walking a lot more than my body is used to, so it's taking its toll. Also, it's really hard to get a VA appointment because of the time difference from where I live, and where I want to go. I could go an hour or so west, but they are just horrible. So, I'm going to go an hour east because they have some of the better care in the region.

I want a skateboard because an electric bike is too much, and a regular bike is a lot of work on my knees. With an electric skateboard, I can just hop on it, bend a little bit to turn, and go. All in all, I think it's the best option for me. I've put the thought into it... now I'm just trying to get help with the research part of which one is the best bang for my buck.

My apologies. I was being a bit insensitive. I think I saw an ad at Wal Mart and they are around 400-500 dollars. And a Segway is not a good choice, considering you must be able to store it when you are in class. I do not suppose they have any kind of ambulatory assistance for students that may have issues with getting around campus.

Oldschool777 : They Do. But I need a form filled out that requires me going to the VA.

Also, I don't want anything that comes from Wal-Mart. But I would like to know what you found that comes from them...

So, after some researching, and a post on reddit, I think I've finally decided on which board I am going to get. Now, it is a little spendy, but I'm very happy with what I see. I'll also buy the backpack, because the board fits in there (and the bag I have it over 5 years old) and I'll grab the fast battery charger, too. All in all, I think I'll be spending somewhere in between $1700 and $1900 overall on this major purchase.

https://evolveskateboardsusa.com/pages/compare-gt-boards

The only thing I haven't decided on is if I want the All Terrain or the Road Terrain Bamboo GT one.

Oldschool777 : Thought you might be interested in this new development as you're the only one that talked to me about this so far.

I hope this post is ok, as it'll be a back to back.

It seems the only real difference is in the deck itself. If I had to get one,I might go with the carbon fiber one. The All Terrain is a wise choice,as a lot of surfaces will not be perfectly smooth. I saw those things can be pretty fast,I hope you can handle it. Wear your helmet at all times and have fun with it. Here is hoping the tax man will give you a nice refund to buy it.

Ouch, big difference. I would suggest covering your deck with urethane when you get it to protect it from the elements.

I don't know much about these types of things, but if this counts, then the most popular type of thing like this that I know of are those hoverboard things. They don't actually hover, but that's what I hear people call them. I dunno what the price is, sadly.

Lexatom : Me and Oldschool already solved this whole thing. Maybe if you read the thread, instead of looking for a +1 post fo the Tour de Vizzed, you would have realized that.

Oldschool777 : Speaking of which, I should get my email saying that it shipped, hopefully at the beginning of next week. I'll let you know when I actually get the email.

Good luck with it and be safe. I hope someone has a helmet when they use the thing.

Lexatom : Those stupid hoverboards are basically a firebomb. Not to mention they look like a mutant offspring of a Segway.
