Oh yes, this game...
When I was younger, I had the remake Real Myst on my PC, in which it was based on the game but in 3.D. instead of 2.D. point-and-click. I got this port later for about $20, as it was hard to find.
Graphics: 8 The graphics look great and not clunky for the PlayStation 1, as they are just still frames, but they immerse you in a big video game world. For the first time you felt like that you were in the game, as it took place in a first-person perspective, which was quite rare for the time due to hardware restrictions. The ages look detailed and beautiful, as each one has its own unique feature that stands out from the rest.
Sound: 8 The music and sound effects are very detailed and feel like that they had a lot of effort put into them, similar to the graphics, the sounds are pretty detailed and are pretty nice to hear. The soundtrack is very interesting however.
Addictiveness: 8 I still like to play this game to this day as it has a high amount of detail not really seen at the time. Although it's squeal Riven is much better to play and also is still fun to play.
Story: 4 The story is not much, as you find a book called Myst and are sent off on a mysterious island solving puzzles and going through ages finding red and blue pages so that the people in the books can talk to you and so you can find out the reason why you are on the island in the first place and what you will have to do.
Depth: 7 There is a lot to do in this game and you can get lost, but this is one of those games where it is fun to get lost, as the ages are kind of big and fun to explore and read books and other things there.
Difficulty: 8 This game is fun, but you can and possibly will get lost without a guide of some kind, and you can complete the game in a short amount of time if you really know what you are doing.
OVERALL: 9.2 This game needs to be remembered and should be one of the greatest games of all time. Especially this port as Full Motion Video sequences were getting onto the console at this point. This game was impressive at the time and still is to this day. As hard as it is however, you will eventually learn what you need to do and when you need to do it. The game has many unique puzzles not even seen in any other game at the time. You can find the game's 1 disc for a price of $20-30, as it is a bit hard to find and may be more, or less, if you are lucky. The squeal Riven actually came with 5 discs which was almost unheard of for the console that it was. It is a great game and if you still have a PlayStation 1 or PlayStation 2 then you should really get it on sale.
