So, I had entertained a thought earlier. What if there was a way to get the Retro Toon Room back, save for all of the cartoons associated with Nintendo because of the copyright?

Well, then I recalled something. You could essentially make your own Game Boy Advance Video.

The process is as follows: get an AVI of the video (just download it to mp4 and convert it to avi if you want) then run it through a program called AVI2GBA or something along the lines of that, and then there you have it.

Would this be feasible? Like I said, excluding Nintendo related cartoons.

This is a neat idea actually. I really love the idea of bringing back the toon room. Although there would still be a bit of a risk of legal troubles. And honestly I don't know if we can take another mass deletion of content.

I never knew about programs to convert video files to work as a GBA Video until reading this. I think if it's possible to convert video files to run in GBA emulation, then at the very least they can be added to the RGR as homebrews. Not sure about re-adding the toon room though, since it was removed due to copyright violations (and not by nintendo).

I haven't had much luck with it, since it seems to go very fast, but once someone gets the settings right, it'll absolutely work.

Perhaps we can find another video hosting site? Obviously we wouldn't want to host them on vizzed not only because of the potential copyright issues, but the bandwidth.

It's totally possible, although there are some issues. It works, but the resulting video is reduced to 160p and compressed to hell and back. It is, however, a neat idea, although copyright violations might still kick in.

I'm no lawyer by any means, but I would think Van's idea would probably work. If the actual files were hosted on an external video site, and all we did was more or less embed them ( like how the countless streaming sites that are already on the web currently do ), then there probably wouldn't be any legal backlash, at least not directly to Vizzed. Though if it's true that it was already removed due to copyright issues, then I don't really see the possibility of it coming back.

But these are just my opinions. I'm all for the idea of bringing it back, especially considering I never got to see the darn thing for my self, though definitely not at the expense of putting the site at risk.

Does not matter where the files are hosted as they can still hurt the site through search results or by contacting Davideo7 and threatening legal action if he were to continue uploading direct or indirect toons to the site.

Files are consistently taken down when you use remote file hosts and if you get suspended then you lose everything. Similar thing happened with the old toon room, the feds seized Mega's network of sites and all the files were lost. The toon room was cool but there are many reasons why it failed. It was not popular, it didn't make the site any money, it's more risky then rom files and the video files themselves kept getting taken down and removed due to copyright issues.
