Right now I'm making an effort to make names for businesses in case they choose mine and send me money for it. On one of these contests, which is now in the voting phase (which could provide greater exposure of your name to the client), I noticed on of the names for a packaging company was "I Ship That". I loved it. Bold and funny.

That reminds me of the Kmart commercial where everyone's talking about how they shipped their pants.

The people are talking about how they shipped their pants just now. It's hilarious. And they even did a Christmas one based on "A Christmas Carol" and at the end it shows Scrooge under the covers, saying "I just shipped the bed!"

I wish I were creative. That's hilarious.

I have a question. How are you putting the names out there? Is there a specific website or contest you're participating in? It's tough to prove intellectual property rights on a name if someone sees you mention it and they take it and go to town with their business. How do you defend your names?

Ghostbear1111 : I use Namingforce.com and squadhelp.com. I still haven't had a chosen name, but it's fun! The policy on Namingforce (the one I use most often) is that the namer surrenders the chosen name's property rights to the client. Before that, it is technically legal, it seems, for another company to take a name idea for their own use. Moral, probably not. As for how I do it, each site allows a certain number of submissions per contest allowed to the user. The more active or successful participants are provided certain benefits, presumably to prevent abuse. The tools provided help each namer to name a business while notifying them about certain things (such as if a domain or company name is available). It's really intuitive.
