Heya everyone.

This message is mostly for David.

So yeah, I found this wonderful retro gaming site.

Here it is:
http://retroachievements.org/

All achievements earned happen in real time and they are quite enjoyable to collect.

They appear on the gaming screen briefly once they occur.

Anyway, the site has source codes for their Genesis, Super Nintendo, Gameboy/GBA, Nintendo, and PC Engine emulators.

It works great on my PC as well as my Raspberry Pi 2.

I've heard it also works perfectly on Android as well.

Is there any chance you could integrate this into your emulator Plugins?

It might be a fresh direction in getting people to continue playing games and unlocking achievement awards here.

Cheers.

I use Retroachievements myself. Haven't really used it much recently but I'll definitely come back to it at some point in time. Username is ZeroTails on there btw (aka my old username here).

I think whether David will integrate it or not is based on whether both David and the person behind Retroachievements can get to an agreement however... again I don't know much about it, (they have the source code available for the emulators but I don't think they want just anyone to use it) but that seems like the most likely requirement. And I don't know if David is interested in this in the first place.

Also, even if David wants to integrate it, he currently doesn't have the money to update the RGR Plugin so it won't happen for a long time.

Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love this idea, but I just don't see it ever happening. I would adore the chance to collect Trophies / Achievements playing all the retro games we have featured here, but it would seem to me like a huge chore to implement in to the code of the Plug-In.

If the financial situation improves, David has an interest in doing so and has the time for it / can come to an agreement with owners of retro achievements, and enough of the user base supports doing some thing like this, it's a possibility, but I really doubt this will happen in the next 5 - 10 + years, if ever.

ZeeTee pretty much covered every reason why I doubt it will ever come to be, at least on Vizzed. This is a really good suggestion though, so don't hesitate to bring any other new ideas up, since it's always a possibility you could bring one of the greatest features the site has ever had to the table

Mynamescox44 : But if you have more people coming back to play games, the revenue from the adds will increase making the site income stronger so it works hand in hand. Yes I doubt they would actually take the time and money to do it but its still a neat idea that can be implemented to draw more users and to give us more incentive to play the RGR games. Plus with a huge hit from Nintendo this could compensate for the loss this site suffered

Beastmode64 :
I just can't imagine adding some thing like a trophy system to the RGR would really increase traffic though. If the love of the games isn't enough, I doubt being able to collect trophies is going to be enough incentive for users to want to use the site, or for those who aren't already here.

I think the main issue here is the fact Vizzed isn't marketed well enough. I'm not saying it like it's any one's fault, but if we could spread the knowledge that this site is here and what it offers to more people, that would make the biggest difference in terms of bringing in more users. Though the problem with wide spread advertising ( not counting the cost of it ) would be making Vizzed much more well known among companies like Nintendo who could request their games be removed.
