Not really sure if this is the right sub to ask, feel free to move it if necessary. Also, sorry if it was asked before, I returned recently and am still a bit lost.

As I got back to Vizzed, I just noticed a thing I'm trying to understand: I bought a V-Machine CD as I had a lot of Viz I didn't even remember of, so all that's left now for me to play at the RGR for free (considering I'm on Linux but I know there's a thread for making the plugin work there) is the PlayStation item. That's where it made me think: why exactly is the PlayStation item not included in the V-Machine CD?

I know there's a reason but I'd like to know just out of curiosity. As far as I understand, Vizzed has only retro games because they (and their respective systems) are no longer being produced (which would also be the case of PS2, but that is a topic for another thread), so I thought there would be only one item that would rule them all. Dividing non-CD from CD systems is understandable, but why is the PlayStation divided from the other CD systems? Does it have a "special treatment" due to storage or something?

PlayStation games require a lot of bandwidth for the site to have someone play it online so that's why the V-Machine CD doesn't cover it. If everyone could play the PlayStation games I'm assuming that it would put too much strain on the servers.

Also about the PS2 not being emulated here, that's because of the size of the files and the amount of power required to emulate it. Not a lot of people have the power to run the PS2, and the games are rather large to have them all even stored here let alone being playable.

If you look at the size of one PSX game, the amount of stuff that's put into just one game, whether its graphics, total gameplay, or whatever, one game could be the same size as 10 or more regular RGR games, so if you look at it, the total number of games in the PSX could single handedly take match up exactly with all of the other games when it comes to the amount of stuff put into it, so it eats up a lot and merging the two would probably end up making the item much more expensive

ZeeTee and Zander pretty much summed up why everything is the way it is.

If you need some Viz for the PSX item, I'd be more than happy to throw you some. I've earned around 800K + so far this month (and given away almost all of it so far lol) and I've pretty much been throwing it at anyone who will take it. So if you want it, let me know

As the others mentioned, it just requires so much bandwidth that it needs to be sold separately.

50.000 Viz isn't even that hard to get.
