The x-men trilogy is awful.

The new star wars trilogy is awful. (the old one is good... but it the time frame doesn't work when comparing these 3 trilogies so I'm leaving it out)

LOTR was well done. I could watch those movies over and over.

I completely agree with you geeogree although i do think the old star wars trilogy is relevant when comparing these three just based on the story within the movies...but if we are talking special effects then yes the time frame doesnt work

The original Star Wars for me because I found it well done in a way and had made a lot of fans out of people. LOTR is my second choice.

I'd have to pick Lord Of The Rings Trilogy set because they progressively kept getting better and the third one took all the awards it was nominated for!!!

Surprisingly, none for acting.

But I'll go with Star Wars, while the prequel trilogy does such hard the original one is just a masterpiece.

I am tied between the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, although Star Wars is not really a trilogy, because it has 6 movies... I would have to choose Lord of the Rings better...

Technically Star Wars consists of two trilogies... though I prefer to think that the prequels never happened (gyuh, Jar Jar...)

But as for my pic, I went with LotR. It was such an epic production and I was amazed not only by how awesome it looked but by how faithful they remained to the books. Yes, some stuff was cut, but unlike many other book-to-movie conversions this one did not leave a bad taste in my mouth. It was just amazing, utterly amazing.

And I second geeogree on the "X-men" trilogy. I love the X-men, and those movies butchered it.

I still think the 3 trilogies that should be compared are the ones from the same era. The original star wars had 0 CG.

The 3 newer trilogies are the ones that should be compared. The original Star Wars trilogy shouldn't really be compared to the other 3. It's in a league of it's own.

But hey, a non-sense poll works for some of you

Original Star wars yes, new Star Wars no.
If we ignore the original Star Wars trilogy for this poll then I say none of them.
Reasons: New Star Wars is garbage (Jar Jar, to much CG, bad plot).
XMen: Hugh Jackman. I can't stand the guy. The XMen movies would be better off all being called "Wolverine" because they focus on him way to much.
XMen does not equal Wolverine
LotR: I literally passed out in the first movie, it was that boring.
The second was slightly better, but nothing spectacular.
I didn't even bother with the third one.

I went with Star Wars, but only because of the original trilogy. I kind of wish Multi-voting was enabled though, because I love LOtR so much that I wanted to vote for both. Star Wars (original trilogy) edged it out by just a bit, thanks to The Empire Strikes Back (my all-time favorite movie). I agree with geeo, Elara, and DH, the X-Men movies are terrible.

I'll go with the original Star Wars TrilogyL, because of the Melodrama in it. Apart from that, I'd go for LOTR, but there can only be one the best for me.

I prefer X-men's trilogy.
I like it more than the others, because it has more interesting plot(in my mind).
But the others are also good.

Ha, original Star Wars wins. The earlier arguments against using the same era, ultimately, I think are somewhat bunk, since if they were actually the greatest they could stand the test of time.

Hope, Empire, and Jedi do that. If speak you do with unusual grammar, yes, know they will what small green muppet you reference, mm?

Even without the copious CGI of the other three options (including the Prequels) it manages to make a compelling cast of characters and create an interesting story, even managing to use the old hero-story formula, right down to the death of the mentors.

Pre-Star is weak, ultimately, because the story is more or less pre-ordained, and so the oomph is gone. Anakin -will- succumb to the Dark Side, we already know. The only character who develops in that trilogy is Anakin, and that's only because the entire prequel trilogy exists for that purpose.

Lord of The Rings, while very, very good, can't top the Original Star Wars in terms of movie storytelling. While the books are lovely, the movies themselves can seem at times somewhat...oh, I'm sure there's a word for it. Perhaps wordy? I'm not entirely certain. They are excellent, no doubt, but not a set of movies I would want to watch ad infinitum, ad nauseum, the way the original Star Wars trilogy makes me want to re-watch.

X-Men, ultimately, is one I feel was lack-lustre. Even not being a huge comics fan (more through lack of exposure than dislike) I wasn't particularily drawn in by the story told. A nice set of movies for the weekend, but, once again, not a trilogy I feel will stand the test of time.

Actually, speaking of time, can we get Back to The Future in on this? I mean, seriously, that's a good set of movies. I'm still waiting to turn out my pockets in 2015, I don't know about you guys! XD

I'm going with Lord of the Rings, because I think it's the most in depth and has a lot of originality. Star wars was sort of original, but I've just seen it so many times and it's so overdone that I'm sick of it. LOTR has been done a lot too, but not as much in my experience.
