So what do people think of the upcoming game, Song of the Deep? It’s the first game to be published by gamestop, will be released in about 2 weeks and already has a ton of merchandise and quite some hype. The game itself looks really good and will be out for PC, PS4, and XBOX1, and is in fact quite cheap, with the Collectors Edition for either system costing $30 which comes with the game, soundtrack, book, and stickers, which is what I plan on getting. It’s developed by Insomniac Games, the guys who brought us Ratchet and Clank and the original Spyro games, so just based on the developers resume, it looks like it could be really good.

Thoughts?

I'm not really a fan of Game Stop, but I don't let things like that affect if I like a game or not.

I honestly haven't even heard of it until I read this thread, so I checked out the trailer. It actually looks really cool, and $20 doesn't seem like much, especially since most new games are more than $30. It actually kind of reminds me Affordable Space Adventures, just underwater, and you can get out and swim. I'm most likely not going to buy it, but it does look pretty fun. I'm also terrified of the ocean, everything in there is poisonous/venomous. XD

I honestly haven't really heard of the hype, I don't really keep up with Internet news, or new games. Usually my friends will tell me about new games, or I'll see a commercial or something. XD

I am really looking forward to Monster Hunter Generations coming out on 3DS July 15 though. Going to play it with all my buds.

I was only able to get this game because of some sort of a miracle. I went to Gamestop today and found out that I can pre order and pay for the whole thing in the store, and I tried to do that but they said that they didn’t have any more copies left, and I left. 5 minutes later, I went back in because I realized that maybe if I told them the system, there might be a copy for that one. They said that all the copies for PC were unavailable either, but they said that in the 5 minutes since I left, they received an order for just 1 copy that isn’t for pre order, that would normally be put on the shelves, and the said that they would put it aside for me and that I can pick up and pay for the game on Monday, the day before it comes out.

It looks kinda interesting.

Yeah I've never heard of it oddly. I decided to check out some gameplay videos after reading this though, since that much is free, plus it's Insomniac so why not?

After seeing it I decided to pass. Quite frankly it doesn't look interesting to me, much less like an Insomniac product so I'm disappointed. :/ It looks like something I would pick up during a flash sale for maybe $2 or something but that's about it. However early gameplay footage can be deceiving, so please, put me in with Vanelan for a summon and info on how the game is.

I'm supposed to pick it up today unless Gamestop goes back on their word. Wont be able to test it out until the weekend but I can give yall a peek at what comes with the special edition, before the game even comes out.

Also, from what I have seen, it looks more like a story and art driven game than anything else.

Well, apparently Gamestop had given A LOT more than was supposed to be in this edition.

The basic game is $15 and the collectors edition is $30. The Collectors Edition was supposed to come with a physical CD copy of the game, along with a voucher for the soundtrack, a limited edition version of the book, and stickers. Not to mention the CD is in a limited Edition steelbook case and everything comes in a special case.


All that is worth it for $30, but it came with much more for some reason, there was also a code to activate the game on Steam! So naturally I activated that. That's an extra $15 basically so yay. The soundtrack voucher was also for Steam, but when I put it in, it said that the code was for the soundtrack and ANOTHER steam version of the game. So I got 2 steam versions of the game for no reason really.

Yikes. The Steam code was a bad idea as a lot of people will probably just sell it or trade it and so cost the game a decent amount of sales. Unless of course it's somehow tied to the buyer, but I don't see that being likely.

Eirinn : It sucks even more because when I put the CD in and tried to install it, guess what happened? It installed the steam copy too, instead of just a regular PC copy, so it has 3 Steam copies.

Also what does Content Servers Unavaiable mean?

Well congrats on your...three new copies of the game then. xD

And that would mean that the server that the content is downloaded from, uploaded to, or hosted on (whichever the case may be) isn't operational at the time. So basically the site it's trying to communicate with is down right now.
