I think that having a imperialistic foreign policy causes the government to be less democratic and more of a monarchy or dictatorship.

well, I think imperialism is sort of an old issue. At least when it comes to political empires.

Although I might hijack this thread and make it about corporate imperialism. There are some multi-national corporations that are bigger than some countries economies are. And these companies have so much influence and control that they seem to be able to get away with just about anything. If a country gets on their case about the way they operate the company just has to threaten to move somewhere else and the issue is dropped.

I just think that some of these companies are too big and don't have enough competition or regulation to keep them in line.

Okay imperialism on the world level won't solve anyone's problems. But if you can compare dictator's to imperialism then I would say which is better. Both involve a form of enslavement. The death of many under each circumstance is Highly likely. The world however is already under such a power. The world doesn't encourage farming. In fact independent farmers are being closed down by the 80% food ruling rich people. If they decide to just stop making food what would happen to the world. If oil becomes low in supply or too expensive what will happen to the world. We must see the problem on a higher level. We are ignoring the possible doomsday facing the world. Due to the shutdown of independent farmers around the world. Please if you haven't yet watch the three documentaries I have posted some time soon. Also get books on how to farm, and seeds. The world economy is getting worse not better!! Gold and silver anyone?

In all reality, if any entity has enough power they can get away with anything... at least for a while. Power also comes in many forms.
