The Exorcist, while not exactly a horror.... is one of the scariest movies in it's own way. It has a certain vibe about it that has always bothered me.

Although I do enjoy Halloween, The Shining, Any Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street (the first one), anything zombie related....

there are a lot of good choice out there.

The Shining, it might not follow the book a lot but it's very brilliant thriller.

P.S. Sharp: Haunting in Connecticut is awful, especially when you live in that state. Seriously, the real story is way scarier than that awful production.

Mine is SAW 4.

Althought it is not that thrilling, I still love the parts where people die in Spectacle way.

The best horror movie I ever seen when it came to sheer suspense believe it or not was Paranormal Activity. In the sense that you were on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next was just crazy. And the fact that I believe in ghost and things that go bump in the night made it that much more scarier for me.

The shots from their room were awesome... the crappy acting in between the scary parts hurt the story. But it was better than most horrors I've seen recently.

I totally agree with both of you, except I felt that the crappy acting made it feel more real than scary, since real people behave all stupid and dumb. It made it more scary that this was happening to just regular people, not to some glossed up perfect looking celebrity.

Paranormal Activity wasn't a horror movie at all in my opinion. There was one scary part in the entire movie, and that was at the very end where she attacked the camera and slit her own throat (thank you DVD bonus endings) Otherwise, the whole thing was just some dude's documentary about his and his girlfriend's paranormal fears... Sorry I dont believe in that crap at all...

Personally though, I prefer the Saw series. Every one was amazing to watch, and I even remember thinking to myself "He's right, he's not a murderer, he just helps people. It's their fault they die." Lol.

One of my favorite horror movies is Hellraiser. I'm not going to go all out and say it's just one of my favorites. I heard they are supposed to make a remake.

Anyways the best horror movie however that seen is probably the Saw movies, they are crafty, logically could happen, and are just scary to think of that happening to you. Just a classic for years to come. They also set themself apart from a lot of other movies by adding a different plot, different elements in the movie, and just stayed original through five movies. Simply amazing!!!
