Not only do we get to see the transition of Mercury next week(May 9th), but Mars will be in perigee on May 30th.  Now, in case any of you don't know what perigee is(which is probably not very many), it's when the planets(or other spatial bodies) are at their closest to each other.  Mars will be coming within 46.8 million miles. Anyway, here's the link to it.
