Hey there, so recently my stepfather has been creating too much drama around the house, and it's more than I'm willing put up with. In order to escape it, I was considering about heading over to my great grandmother's house. But there's one slight problem: My mother hates her guts. When I told about it, she downright started crying and saying I was throwing her under the bus by saying how I would still prefer to go over to my great grandmother's despite everything she putted her through. It nearly broke my heart to see her in tears like that. I would rather just leave, but I don't want to make my mom feel like I'm betraying her.

I can only say so much, as I don't have much insight to the big picture here, but here goes...
I would basically try to explain your situation to her as clearly as possible. It's not about your mom's and great grandma's relationship, it's about what you need. If anything, it's the relationship between you and your step-father causing this problem. You don't love one family member more than the other (that may be the case, I don't know), it's just you need a break from what is going on in the house as of right now. Make it as clear as possible you care about and respect your mom dearly, but some time away will do more good than bad, even if she can't see it from her perspective. It's not throwing her under a bus to put your emotional / mental health first, as that is what any sane person should do. If there's anything else you could add to help her understand it's not about her, but what you need, that would also help.

Final Weapon : From what I read, you didn't even tell her why you wanted to go to your great grandmother's. You might have, though your post doesn't state that. Perhaps your mother feels your leaving her rather than you just leaving because of your stepfathers drama. I would tell your mother why you want to go there.

Sorry, I must've forgot to add that part along with a few others. I did tell her about it, but looking back on all of it now, maybe I wasn't expressing myself too clearly. I was really upset at the time. Well, I'm going to take the advice you and scox give me, and try one final time to make what I say to her as clear as possible tonight while at the same time being calm about it, and letting her know that I truly do care about her, but will not stay if this continues. If it goes well, I'll request for this thread to be closed. If not, I'll leave it open for further advice regarding the issue at hand. With that being said, thank you.
