When I say Sonic the Hedgehog, the first thing that comes to mind is his video games- both the "good" and "bad" ones.

On one hand, the 2D side-scrolling games were amazingly kickass, enjoyable games, which included Sonic 1-3, Sonic CD, Sonic Advance 1-3, and the Sonic Rush games, among others.

The Sonic Adventure games were pretty good, as well. SA1 has an awesome storyline, and really nice gameplay and graphics for its time. SA2 had an awesomer storyline, and it introduced most of the characters that are now commonly seen in the series, such as Rouge and Shadow.

Sonic Heroes onward seems to be the "bad" era of the Sonic games, although I personally loved Heroes, The Sonic Riders games, and Black Knight. '06 and Unleashed bombed big time, (Although '06 would have been awesome beyond all recognition has Microsoft not rushed Sega) and Secret Rings was left to stew in its terrible controls.

My question: With Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (Previously known as "Project Needlemouse") coming out, do you think the Sonic series could pick itself up and rise to its former glory? Or were the 3D games too much of a killer for the series to rise again?

Obviously If they do it right.. and Dont do it to just pound another game out.. I loved Sonic Adventures... I played it WAY too much.. haha so im excited about a new one.

No not really I have a funny feeling its just pounding out another game to make money.

If you had asked me this three years ago, my answer would have been different. But the way I see it now, and I can't hardly bring myself to say it, I love the hedgehog, the way I see it now, they should just kill the series. Period, statement, end of story. The recent ones have just been such big flops that unless Sonic 4 is exactly like what we were getting from Sonic Rush and older games, unless it is bringing us that rushing, speedy gameplay with colorful levels, a catchy soundtrack, side-scrolling movement, and simple controls, then SEGA has gone too far to bring Sonic back. I'm sorry, but sometimes, things just need to get the axe.

I hope so...sonic unleashed showed some promise, except for the part a werehog or whatever...the other part was great there was so much speed...i think if developers focus on speed (what sonic is best known for) the sonic games will be much better in the future

i still have hope in the blue hedge hog, eventually they will get it right. they just cant flop around and pound in another game for money wise. oh and if they bring speed in along with hands on controlls.

I've given up on Sonic when Sega stopped giving a crap about the quality and reviews of the games and used the excuse "Well the children loved it"

They'd better make a Sonic Adventure 3 soon. They're making enough money with the crappy games that sell well with little kids.

Admittedly, I havn't played all that many Sonic games, but those that I have played were great. However, I have recently bought Sonic and the Secret Rings and it is just god aweful! It felt like the bastard, mutant child of a rail shooter and a racing game. If they can get far, FAR away from this and get back to being a platforming game (even a 3D platformer like Sonic Adventure is great) it will survive.

Sonic will survive if his fans just stay true. I think alot of them that were considered horrible were okay. Matter of fact, Black Knight is my favorite game.

Sonic will survive unless the number of players keep diminishing... I don't think that it is SUPER popular, but a decent amount of people play it.

WHAT ARE YOU ON?????!!!!! The fun games were the old ones, the best is Sonic 3 with Knuckles, and Sonic is gonna die! Or at least, true gamers will stop buying his games.

Yahh a few Sonic games they have made had seemed kinda crappy lately, I mean I've saw a sonic case where he's a knight, I havn't played that but it seems stupid!! Sonic Unleashed wasn't that great either because where he turns into a werehog, man they have been ruining sonic!!


Hopefully they will make good Sonic games again soon!!

SEGA's bringing back the sonic side scrollers with "Sonic the Hedgehog episode 1." i think there starting to realize that the 3D games are running sonic into the ground. Sonic episode one is supposed to bring it all back with new levels and new amazing features be on the look out for it. You can youtube it or check it out on the WII's Nintendo Chanel.

What I have to say. I liked Sonic The Hedgehog 1-3. Awesomeness.
But. I think.
SEGA needs to listen to the fans.
They must give the fans their chance to say something about Sonic The Hedgehog.
I think the fans know it better then the SEGA Staff. I mean.. They're running out of idea's. I think SEGA fans have great idea's for Sonic Games.

3D didn't ruin Sonic. Crappy camera, controls, and game play ruined Sonic. Sonic Adventure 1&2 were great, all be it, they still had some camera problems.
