So I'm stuck on Paper Mario - Yoshi's Island (chapter 4 or 5... can't think of it right now). Well, this one part to get to one of the yoshi's you've gotta save, you need to jump on this flower and spin so that it propels you up. On a regular controller this would be just spinning the joystick around and around, but I can't figure out how to do this on a laptop keyboard. Assistance is appreciated.

Perhaps you could use an application like Ghost Mouse:

http://www.ghost-mouse.com/

Under recording options, remove the Delay, Mouse Move, and Mouse Click.

Once you have that moved saved, you can make a hot key to replay your spin move whenever you want.

No promises on if this will work though.

Are you asking how do you use the application?

It allows you to record keyboard and mouse macros and let's you play them back very easily.

You probably will also need to use a Hex Editor, something like HxD to edit the timing of the delay between key presses.

https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/

I'll look into this tonight for you and see what I can come up with.

What keys are you using for directions?

EDIT:

I'm thinking it would look something like this:

Here's what it will do.

It will press the UP arrow key down, wait for .08 seconds, press the RIGHT arrow key down, wait for .08 seconds, release the UP arrow key, wait for .08 seconds, etc. until it does a full circle.

Not sure what the delay is needed for this and I don't have the game either to test it.

Anyway, let me know what buttons you use for directions and the total time that is needed to do a full spin motion on the controller.

Steffenfield : This looks complicated but I'll try it later on. Also, I use the keyboard arrows to move around (and then shift and whatnot for A and etc).

I was asking if *you* have ever used it. How do you find it to be?

Yes, I have used this.

You can do almost anything in a game.

It's like a programmable controller.

Mostly it's used for cheating, but in your case, we just want Mario to spin.

Is it possible to send me your save state or save file so I can test this?

I'm very new here and I don't know all that is possible with Viz.

I'm not sure with a game requiring analog movement, that you would be able to replicate that easily with a keyboard/Dpad.

Honestly, if I was you I would just purchase a cheap controller to play these games with. For example the Logitech F310 controller costs about 15$usd and works for retro as well as MODERN games perfectly well.

plasticinsanity : Yeah, there are plenty of USB controllers you can use for PC gaming (as well as the games on Vizzed) The one I referenced is the best deal for lowest cost as it's basically like a PS3/Xbox360 controller but you can shop around.

If you have Amazon Prime, this is a good controller and you should get it within two days.

http://www.amazon.com/Retrolink-Nintendo-64-Classic-Enabled-Controller/dp/B008L3UUPS/ref=sr_1_1?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1457939575&sr=8-1

If not, Amazon offers a one month free trial to Prime, just make sure to cancel the subscription within 30 days.

EDIT:

Here's another good one:

You can also connect a PS3/4 controller to your PC if you have either of those systems.
There are instructions in this forum on how to do it. :3

Vanelan : I wish, but sadly no lol but I took Jordan's advise and searched the Walmart site, and they have them on for 30CAD (which isn't too bad considering I could also use it for Mario Kart and whatnot).

plasticinsanity : You can probably find a better one or one for cheaper on a site like Amazon or from Best buy or something like that.

As long as it's a USB based controller that works with Windows, it should work fine here. I have the best luck with Logitech, but the Microsoft ones are fine as well, just more spendy.

Overall, I would suggest getting one that has dual-analog controls. That way you can use it for Retro as well as Modern gaming.

plasticinsanity : Staples might, but probably doesn't have a good selection. Gamestop usually has a few, but electronic stores that sell PCs are probably a better bet. Like Best Buy. Although I'm not sure what stores are near you. But I would honestly go the prepaid route if possible and get one online. More options and you probably will get a better deal.
