I'm still a newbie (although you may have seen me post around by now) but I thought I'd start up a thread and officially introduce myself.

My name is Amber, and I joined because I wanted to play Paper Mario online for N64. I'm a bit closed-minded when it comes to gaming as I don't really venture much outside of the Mario world lol but I do see Aladdin and the Lion King are both on this site so they'll be my next venture after I beat Paper Mario. I'm really loving the fact that there's other PM fans here - I don't really know anyone else who plays it, so that's a huge plus for me. I don't have much else to say. I look forward to seeing you guys around!

PS - my title is a Simpsons reference. I'm a huge fan.

I've seen your name quite a few times around here. I should note you've already made an amount of posts in nearly a week similar to the one I made in my first year. It even took me three months to become a member, and you will achieve that rank tomorrow. Talk about a good start.

EX Palen : haha that's what I figured - a late post is better than no post. I meant to do it and kept getting distracted. I have been posting a lot - I'm kind of hoping to jumpstart the Fitness boards (I'm working on keeping fitness a huge part of my life). Thanks for the warm welcome.  

Paper Mario is a brilliant game!  I struggled with it when I was younger, and although I barely find it a challenge now, I find I enjoy it much more now than when I was young.  It's a game that has long stayed in my memory, and I've played all the sequels so far.  My favorite in the series is probably Super Paper Mario, least favorite Sticker Star (although I like that game, too!).  I'm glad to hear you enjoy the game so much!  It seems you enjoy platformers the most.  I recommend the Donkey Kong Country games, especially DKC 2.  If you're looking for a challenge, the Mega Man games are probably a great starting point, especially 2, 5, and 6 (to my knowledge, these are considered the easiest of the NES Mega Man games).  Although, DKC can be pretty challenging, too.

supernerd117 : Aww another person who likes PM - I love it! I forgot about Donkey kong, I"ll have to check out that again as i used to play it for the 64. I haven't played the last 2 versions of PM yet... how did you find sticker star to be? It looks like mario doesn't have any partners which I found weird.

plasticinsanity : Personally, I loved Sticker Star...but it seems the general consensus is against it.  It's a very different experience than the other Paper Mario games.  It's more of an "artsy" experience than the other Paper Mario games.  It experiments a lot with mechanics, and it's very different from any other game I've ever played.  There were certain moments that were frustrating because I didn't know what to do.  I was stuck.  However, the solutions were always ingenious and fun.  If I had taken a bit more time to solve them instead of looking at a guide, I think I would have had more fun.  However, I did have more fun on my second playthrough, despite remembering most of the solutions.  There is also a decent amount of backtracking (sometimes you may revisit levels to get specific items to convert to stickers).  However, all of these items may be bought again at a cost later on (although they're free if you find them again).  You may only have one of each "thing" (the items) sticker at a time, and you can't find the item again until you've used it.  The collecting aspect of the game is integral to the experience.  There's even a museum where you can display every collectable sticker in the game.  If you don't like collecting things, you probably won't have a lot of fun.  If you do, you'll probably have a blast!  Overall, I found the experience more fun than frustrating.

PS : There are certain hidden blocks in 3-5 you have to hit in order to advance.  I was stuck on this level for hours trying to figure out what to do.  You may be able to figure out where the blocks are by seeing where you need to go.  That's all I'm going to say for now, unless you get the game and ask me where to find them

PPS : You might want to be on the lookout for a certain character...he appears 5 times in the game...

supernerd117 : I've seen a walkthrough on youtube of Sticker Star, and that's the general impression I got from it. But to be fair, I wasn't so sure about the Wii version at first because of the real-time fighting lol. 

plasticinsanity : Super Paper Mario is fantastic.  The "flip" mechanic and the score system are brilliantly implemented.  While I found the game to be mostly easy, there was so much in the game that flat-out amazed me.  The programmers that worked on that game must have been geniuses.

supernerd117 : I agree with you - it was fairly easy (especially the final boss compared to the GC Paper Mario). But it was incredible when it came to the layout. I wasn't really keen on the pixelated partners, but I loved the storyline of it.

So you like the Simpsons right? What other shows do you like?

zanderlex : I do! I've loved it since I was about 8 years old. I also like Family Guy, South Park, Futurama, Bob's Burgers,  American Dad. I also like LockUp, and other crime/jail shows such as the like. Big Bang Theory is another sometimes.  Oh, and hockey of course.

plasticinsanity : Nice, Futurama is my 2nd most favorite show of all time, and Bobs Burgers and American Dad both make the top 5 for me as well. Im not really that much of a fan of South park.

zanderlex : Nice! I love Futurama. and whaaaaaat? First you don't play mario, and now this? :o (lol kidding, of course). I've heard a lot of people say they don't like SP. Have you seen Rick & Morty yet?

plasticinsanity : yeah, I saw Rick and Morty a couple years ago, it's cool. I have the game and I like it.

I just got into Rick and Morty myself. I must say, I really like the jokes. The game was okay, I just not much for mobile games.

zanderlex : I just seen it the other day - it seems alright. Kinda reminds me in a way of Back to the Future lol.

Droog : I've never played the game yet (I didn't even know it existed actually). The show itself I've started getting into though.
