Firstly, I'm never getting Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Although I would love to, I've followed the game from back in it's Japanese release, and was there as Serebii got his copy and started releasing information (He did it like, 2 days before the normal release). And I've seen this game's capabilities: It would be very fun. But despite that, there are still 2 problems that stop me from getting it.

1: I don't have a DS or a DSi (cheap marketing scam that they are).

2: I'm really not allowed to be playing pokemon. Then why am I here? I screwed the rules.

That being said, the best starter in the origanals MAY HAVE BEEN Cyndaquil, but due to the Physical/Special split and moves like Waterfall and Ice Punch, Totodile is the best.

(And I'm probubly going to play it anyway. Thank the lord for ROMs!)

I'd choose Cyndaquil because in most pokemon games you can't get many good fire types in the main story unless it's a starter unless you have fire red/leaf green, Typhlosion is really fast, plus in my Silver game I chose Cyndaquil and duplicated him five times so I hade a team of Typhlosion
