I just stumbled across this site the other day and it's giving me nothing but retro gaming smiles. 

I would love to waste some time with others here in whatever two player old school games you all like.

I have a couple of quick questions.

What's the best way of adding or making friends?  The chat and net play rooms seem so vacant.

Also, how do I upload an avatar picture?  I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find this option.

Netplay rooms are somewhat vacant, but the chat room is slightly reviving, even if there are times when there's not many people around. Another good way to make friends is by staying active around the forums, sharing your posts with everyone else, so be sure to visit them often.

About avatars, newbies cannot upload them. You must have at least the member rank. You will achieve the member rank after you make at least ten posts, but you won't get the rank after you've been registered for at least a week. One more reason to start posting for you.

If you have any further questions, feel free to shoot the staff or any of its members a PM and we will gladly lend a hand in any way we can.

I think I've wasted about 300 credits today trying to get netplay working.

I have used Mednafen and MAMEhub for SNES.

When using both of these emulators, I got no response from my gaming controller, either when I was alone or someone else had joined.

I also tried joining an arcade MAME game but it would never connect me to the session.

I even turned off my firewall but with no better luck.

I don't understand what I'm missing on this.

Do I need to open up a certain port on my router?

I'm using Windows 7 with Firefox.

Steffenfield : You need to reconfigure the controller when you use netplay.
It uses a different config file.

MAME requires a different port to be opened on your router...I don't recall which off-hand.

I kept pressing the ESC key but it wouldn't load any configuration menu and nothing else seemed to work as well.

ALT + SHIFT + 1 did the trick though.

Steffenfield : Alt +Shift +1 actually changes the controller type.
You can just double click the screen to reconfig in mednafen.
MESS has an esc menu, although IMO, it doesn't do as good a job as mednafen for SNES emulation.
