So yeah, I lived by myself through the years but the solitude got a bit too much, so what would be better than having friends as roommates? Have them and pay bills equally. It didn't work that way. I paid most of the bills, I done grocery shopping and I fixed the house around. What do they do? They pay a portion, they only shop for themselves, and keep the house a mess and stay in the rooms. So last week a paid the bills and such and he demands $120 more. I told him things on my birthday and got into a fight. Next day he messaged me saying I'm kicked out of the house. I was ready to explode and go straight to the house and pound him but instead I used my money to buy things for myself and flaunt around, showing off the useless crap I bought. He said I have till Wednesday to get out but I'm leaving earlier. I found a new place and moving in Monday, and I request a refund of the rent money since I found out it's against the law to get money and kick the person out within the week. If he doesn't give me my money back I'm reporting to the cops and get my money. I'm done being a freaking push over. I'm done, I'm sick of it, I want change and I want it now.

Sorry to hear that you had to go through all of that. Always difficult to have roommates that don't pull their share of the bills.

Hopefully it was a situation where you each had separate leases on the place, that way you have a specific contract showing your rights as a tenant. Sad part is, you will probably have to hire a lawyer to get any of your money back you paid for rent, as well as any deposit you might have put down.

I would think they need to start a court action to get you out of the house either way.
Typically, landlords can't just kick people out without 30 day notice, unless there was some kinda serious breech of contract. And even then, they have to do it the legal way and go through the courts and not just change the locks.

Vanelan : here's the thing, the landlord didn't kicked me out, my friend did. After the argument on Saturday we done worse to where our friends got involved. My friend basically backed me up and started a little war against my roommate via text and Facebook. He stormed to my room and said I got till the end of the month and the "damages" I never done will be covered by my rent money. I told him why he has my rent money still and why I'm paying more than everyone else and more drama was created. He ended the fight was a "st*u" and stormed out. He came back saying my friend isn't allowed in the house and he will call the cops. I told him to do it I'm moving out tomorrow and just things got so much stupid than ever. Next day the landlord came by and she said that he's an idiot and has no idea what he's doing. She was on our side and while cleaning she told us not to clean nor paint it's his problem not ours. He's the one under the lease I'm not so he's gotta do all this. I asked her for the rent money and she said she couldn't do anything about it since I'm not under the lease and I gave it to him. She said I can handle it in court but revenge can be a bit sweeter than money. Right now bunking with a friend until I get a place of my own once more.

Edit: everyone thinks he basically messed up badly, even the landlords.

Well, it sounds like he messed up from what you are saying...
He is basically destroying the apartment and trying to stick you with the bill.

Make sure you get pictures of your room if you still can so if anything does come up, you have proof that at least your portion of the house was in good condition.

And if I were you, I would start a small claim for your money back since he kicked you out and is refusing to give the money back.

Vanelan : I do have pictures of my room. It's spray painted because of him and friends the first day I moved in and he's making me paint it. There's a hole in the wall due to a party going wwe. Also mice infestation and roaches aren't so nice. He split the bills in the dumbest way ever, giving me and the other roommate a bill and him with electricity (which became quite too high causing one problem of the fight) I do have screenshots of the fights via text that backs up the issue a bit and then Facebook posts of slander. Then a few pics of the vandalized room I haven't damaged.

becerra95 : So what you are saying is that you weren't under the lease at all? Because if that's the case, then whatever damage he's doing to the apartment will be on HIM, not you, so if that's any consolation....

Jordanv78 : no I was never on the lease. I was going to but since the landlord said I was kicked out, it's my roommate's (the one who signed the lease) problem. I got everything out and bunking with a friend right now until the summer when I get the house I want to rent. Right now I heard he's trying to file a lawsuit and getting ready if it does happen. People need to mature and learn to use common sense because there's no point of going to a case he knows he's going to lose. It's pathetic

becerra95 : I don't really see how he would have any sort of a lawsuit against you. I'm sure he's just blowing smoke on you man. Sounds like most of the stuff is on him. I wouldn't worry about him too much. Just focus on yourself and getting yourself into a better situation where you don't have to deal with crud like this.

Jordanv78 : people told him to grow up and be responsible but honestly.... He has sunk down in the ocean with this issue. Same old same old but right now hes looking for new roommates and to find a way to screw me over.
