FUTURE SITUATION: 3 or 4 years from now, Xbox will be leading just in time for

OK here are my thoughts on the matter. I have always been a Die-hard Videogame lover. I will not say I'm the best but in my opinion I'm pretty damn good. My older brothers had Atari's that I used to play on (I only remember Popeye the sailor and the tank game) and a regular HUGE gameboy that I played the original mario, boxer,chessmaster. Then They got a SEGA )))8

And thats all I have to say about that. So I became a huuuuuuuuuuuge sega fan. Continuing with the gamegear, sega cd, and 32x and Saturn. I was devote in my ways and contantly argued that the Saturn was better than the PS. I might have changed my mind now but I will not say so. So I was prejudiced against the PS2 since before it came out. The first PS2 games didn't even have better graphics than the Dreamcast. And I always refered to the Playstation 2 by its rightful name, the "Gaystation 2" which was always followed by "the Gaystation 2 because its twice as gay as the first Gaystation!" My devotion is still to sega's old systems but they havn't come out with a system for a while... HMMMMM i wonder why? (JK) So I immediatly jumped on the X-box because it was sooo cool and had 4 controller ports, a hardrive, and HALO!!!!!!! FINNALLY A GAME THAT COULD STACK UP AGAINST GOLDENEYE AND PERFECT DARK!!!!!!!! Well since a couple of months ago the x-box started to outsell the PS2. I will have to admit its not as cool to like the x-box now that its not the underdog. (some could argue it was never the underdog because it was made by Microsoft who has zillions and zillions of dollers) SOOOOOOOOOOo in getting to my point I agree with what the letter says more or less. I give Microsoft props for making such a good system for cheap! I mean you would have to buy a super computer to play DOOM 3. And most everone rated HALO 2 as good as Half-life 3. I think with the backward compatibility of the new Microsoft system it will do better than the PS 3.(gaystaion 3 three times as gay as the first gaystation LOL YOU were the first ones to hear that)

In closing the biggest gripe people have with the X-box is there isn't as many good games for it(in other words the game library) but I think it makes up for it in quality. Here is my comparison and forgive me if I get stuff wrong and/or leave out your favorite games. I am only going to do the exclusive games, not the cross platform games. I will also admit the PS 1 games. So some extra Kudo's for the ps side. OK

Now you can tell me why the PS isn't gay and why its better than the Saturn.

First off, you keep mentioning backwards compatibility. In your Xbox 2 thread you said it was unsure as to whether it would be backwards compatible or not.

Second, the only reason the Xbox is really outselling the PS 2 is because everyone already has one. And people only buy Halo 2.

Thrid, you are leaving out a major part of the equation, The Revolution. We have no earthly idea what Nintendo has up it's sleeve.

Fourth, Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 are different types of games to me. Yeah they are both FPS, but they go in a bit of a different direction. Oh yeah, Timesplitters isn't really exclusive.

Lastly, the Playstation 2 has a larger variety of good games. I am not just saying this because I am a Playstation fanboy (Truth be told I am more of a Nintendo fanboy). But the Playstation 2 seems to appeal to the casual gamer more. They were the first with GTA 3, VC, and SA. They were the first system with a DVD player, which is why some people bought it. When the Xbox came out the people that bought PS 2 just for that didn't need an Xbox.

I really hate some of the PS 2's problems. My little brother's has the disc read error problem.

1. Yes I don't think its sure with the backwords compatibility, I've read different things from different places but it would make alot of sense.

2. Yes alot of people have the PS2 but it is also true that alot of the x=box buyers do not have another game system. My neibors with a 9 year-old boy just got an x-box and LIve. So I wouldn't say thats the only reason. There are plenty of other games people get the x-box for. Like KOTOR, NINJA Gaiden, and a overhyped game named Fable.

3. I heard that The big N might have an "emulator" console system. I guess they figure they are sitting on a goldmine of SNES/NES/64 games that they can use. I'm sure this is uncolloberated, just a rumor. As for Nintendo in general I just don't know... They ripped us off in making the GBA, having us all buy it and then making a GBA with the same capabilities with a backlit screen. I MEAN AHHHHh, they definantly had that planned. They are just milking the big TEETS of the Handheld market. I mean the gamegear had a backlit screen how long ago? They had the technology but just wanted to make more money. That and nintendo's refusal to go with the mainstream media. They lost Final Fantasy on the 64 because of it. They also drive up hardware and game price. Not that they wouldn't put games at the price they want anyway. Microsoft has lost alot of money on the x-box and they only recently started turning a profit. They are interested in the future and creating a base for the next generation. They aren't screwing people like Nintendo. For the next generation Nintendo had better step up or I think they will dwindle even more.

4. The main reason I said that was becasue everyone was comparing the games. And my point was you don't have to buy a really nice pc to enjoy the best graphics and intese online gaming. Does the ps2 come with a hardrive internet capabilities? how much do you have to pay for those?

5. I agree the PS 2 has a larger selection of good games with the inclusion of the PS 1. I am a sega fanboy and think that the x-box is the best choice out there. I do think there are better games for the x-box. Could the playstation even begin to run Morrowind? Answer: probably yes but with horrible fog and popup. The GTA series is no doubt a good one if somewhat overrated. Just think about how much better its graphics would be if it were built for the x-box. But the box will get it somtime.

The sony hardware when it first comes out is very very shaky. The first wave of ps2's had many problems as does the PsP. I hope they will fix some before it comes out over here. I am glad their will be some competition in the handheld market so Nintendo can't keep the prices through the roof. It costed 2$ to make a gamboy color, I'm not sure on the GBA but it can't be for 100. Competition will mean better games and better prices.

I wouldn't really see a point in backwards compatibility. I mean like the PS 2 it was easy (I think), so it made sense, but if it is going to be more difficult to Microsoft to program that in then it doesn't make sense.

I really think Nintendo might of come to their senses. Maybe they will come back with something truely great.

What I meant was why the Xbox had been outselling the PS 2 lately is because everyone that wanted a PS 2 had one. The PS 2 has been out for a year longer than the Xbox. So, there are less people to buy a PS 2 because so many have one.

I don't "think" there would be too much of a problem with the backwords compatibility. And hell mabey they should throw in compatibility with the CD atari games, and mabey the Saturn. That would be Frikin Awsome. BUt it would be much more handy-dandy that whipping out my old x-box.

ANd yeah I hope the big N comes to its senses. It seems to me like the DS came out of the gate really slowly. They barley had any games!!! I found out it was on the market like a month after it was out. I mean sheesh.

They could not have backwords compatibility with either of those. They don't own Atari (as far as I know) or Sega.

No I mean they could buy the rights for those games and Bios's or whatever. Because the systems are dead and atari and sega will want to make as much money as they can. The DVD drive on the box will be able to read cd format so there is no reason the x-box wouldn't be able to emulate these games because the jaquar cd thing and the Sega CD went up in smoke to fast. I really don't think it would happen, but was just saying it would be cool.

If they did do it hypothetically, it would probably take up one megabyte on the x-boxes hardrive. Not much...

The PS3 will easily be mroe powerful then the Xbox2 as long as it comes out after it.

Systems are to the point where power differences don't mattter as much anymore. This next gen will be all about the games that are made.

Ah ha, that is very true. The game developers will have thier work cut out for them. The graphics on games get better within the life of a system. Thats because game developers learn how to program and learn what works the best. Thats why the first generation of games that comes out on a system usually have bad graphics compared to games made later. I think things like hardrives, 4 controller ports, online connectivity, and the Title games the next systems will have the biggest effect. If Sony had another GTA to come out with thier PS3 it would simply dominate the market.
