Okay, so me and my friend were playing Pokemon the other day, and he bred a Machoke with a Hypno. The egg result was a baby Machop, which was understandable considering the Machoke was female. But then we got to thinking..... there are female Machokes.... disturbing.... And on that note, that means there are also female Machamps! EWWW!

So since me and my friend were bored, we decided to look at all the Pokemon who's genders didn't make sense. For one, of course, there is Machop, Machoke, and Machamp. Then there is Kirlia and Gardevoir. Why is there male Kirlias and Gardevoirs? Why would they make a male Pokemon have a dress?

And what about Infernape? Honestly, a monkey wearing a bra. That's just not right. You can call them chest plates if you want, but I'm convinced that Infernape is wearing breast support.

Is there no one else who agrees with me?

Well, if the Kirlia is male, you can get Gallade so that's better than a male Gardevoir but I agree with the gender issues. It just doesn't make sense to have a female Mr. Mime. I also think Hitmonchan looks like a female. What about female Kadabras & Alakazams with mustaches? It's madness!!!

Oh my gosh, Satoshi, what were you thinking?! A female Machoke?? And female Rhyhorn are understandable, but why a female Rhyperior? Sinnoh is disturbing.

A female Mr. Mime is still Mr. Mime, which I think was kinda lazy of the pokemon company. There are a few flaws, but none of them are too bad...

I can't believe nobody's brought up a male Jinx yet. Biologically, the odds are if you have a chest like that you're a woman. Same with the dress. And the hair. And the enormous amount of lipstick.

Actually most of the humanoid Pokemon tend to be gender-specific. Nintendo should make more gender-neutral Pokemon, or at least male and female versions of the human-like ones.

Jynx has always been strictly female. I consider Mr. Mime to be Jynx's counterpart so I was wondering why it wasn't strictly male.

Mr. Mimes can be female because of a translation issue: In Japan, they are Barriads. So, back in Gen1, when there were no genders, naming it Mr. Mime seemed like a good idea.

I don't understand how the GENDERLESS Mew can use Attract.

Mew's just cool like that but it's not genderless its gender is UNKNOWN. Which I never got. How hard is it to check for what kind of gender it is?

Very good thread, never really thought about this but I've just spent the past 10 or so minutes thinking about this and all the different pokemon who should be gender exclusive.

Nintendo obviously didn't put a lot of thought into this when the were first making the first batch of Pokemon, they probably figured they'd never make the Pokemon having different genders in future games.

I agree, David, but that still doesn't explain NEW pokemon that should be gender-specific. I mean, seriously, they must have thought "Hmm, this pokemon wears a skirt, and its evolution wears a dress, and both of them look like they have a girl's hairstyle, that wouldn't make sense as a male..." when making Kirlia and Gardevoir! Hm, something's not right with those Game Freak people...

Yeah good point. I'd like to see what Nintendo's excuse for this is because they sorta screwed things up by doing that.

Regarding the Alakazam thing, things get even more confusing with the colors

Male Alakazam

Female Alakazam

It's pretty fun to look at gender differences of each Pokemon at
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

What about Geodude? If there is a Geodude, shouldn't there be a Geochick? I mean, you need to think about all the little things like that.

Oh, and David, that alakazam that you put as male is male, but its shiny. the color thing had nothing to do with gender.

lol, I just realized that the female's mustache is shorter. I bet Game Freak thought: "Hm, even though it is a girl, it still needs a mustache, and since chicks aren't supposed to grow mustaches, then, let's just make it shorter!" I wonder if anyone is going to say something to them about this...

I hadn't thought about Geodude. I usually named the female Dudette but it never really sunk in. The males I named Geodud. It never really was my favorite.

Another one I thought was a bit unusual but forgivable was Roselia. I understand having a male plant but it looks so girly. And on a side note, Roselia isn't marked by the spell check. :/

Wow. Some of those I didn't think of, but you are right. Mr. Mime doesn't really make much sense. Then again, it would be kind of creepy to see considering it is a humanoid Pokemon. All they could really do is give it eyelashes because they can't add much more than that without loosing their "E" rating. Haha, weird.
