Yesterday I installed a Mcafee antivirus and I had many problems; I couldn't even have Chrome to work! After a long investigation I was able to finally have it work.

I suspect this is why I can't play the RGR. I tried a few consoles (NES, Genesis, SNES, SCD) and it failed to "download" every single game I tried (I tried both Mednafen and Gens for the Genesis). If it's indeed due to my antivirus, what extension(s) should I exclude for the antivirus in order to play?

If not, help me!

along with antivirus, i've found http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/ helps too. just save the results of the scan (click 'save log' button after the scan finishes) and see if theres anything suspicious looking in the results. or if you're like me and (despite being a pc gamer largely) aren't overly knowledgeable about this kind of stuff, find someone who knows more about this kind of stuff that you can trust and let them have a look at the log file.

a friend of mine helped me with this a while back and we wound up clearing away a whole bunch of stuff and (this is unrelated to your issues i think) while we couldn't figure out how to remove it, we DID effectively end the functions of a real tough worm i had that was using huge amounts of bandwidth (darn you, malware creators!).

I seemed to have solved my problem; I needed to exclude vizzedrgrpluginservice.exe from the virus scan scrutiny.

Local Mods : even though I solved my problem, please keep the thread opened for a few days. I'm sure others have had the same problem.

mcafee is th worst antivirus program out there. when i used it i played world of warcraft and mcafee put a virus on my computer telling me i had to pay them $300 just to have them look at it. i called them and threatened a lawsuit but they said it was impossible and tried to charge me for the phone call.

i got another anti vuris program and ran a scan it turned out that mcafee was the virus (this is how i learned they put it on my computer) and i removed it form my hard drive no issues at all since i removed it. it turned out that mcafee saw everything trying to form a constant internet connection as a virus and corrupted the files in the process.

i haven't trusted antivirus programs since and went the route my brother in law did with avast. i'm glad the situation was solved for you and i hope you don't have anymore.

Are you stuck with a McAfee subscription at this point?
If not, I would recommend avast as an alternative.
