Hi fellow gamers!

Does anyone know how to change the difficulty level for Samurai Shodown V Special?

It currently defaults to Level 4.
I've combed through all menu settings but couldn't find an option to change the difficulty level.

Any suggestion is welcome!

montedyo : Sorry, I really don't. Generally though, I know that these fighting Arcade games don't usually have an easy to find difficulty setting.

Sometimes with certain Arcade titles, you can mess with the dip switches, or find difficulty settings in the menus, but I don't see that with this game. I didn't see anything via google

Since this is a Neo-Geo game, you need to get into the Neo-Geo settings menu.

First, start up the game and press ESC to bring up the menu.
In the menu, go to dip switches and set the "Setting Mode" dip switch to "On."
Scroll down to the "reset" at the bottom and press enter.

That will restart the game and immediately go into the settings menu.

From there, you want to go the "setting up the soft dip" and press button 1 (ctrl by default) followed by SamSho 5 Special.
In that menu, you will see all the options available in this game.
After you set it to however you would like, press button 3 (space by default) to exit this and the previous menu.
Scroll down to exit, and press button 1.
You will see "dip sw-1 off!"

Press ESC and go into the menu and change the settings dip switch back to "off" and then scroll down to reset and press enter.

The game should restart and you should have the settings you chose.

It used to be so much easier, but the MAME programmers decided it was too easy I guess.
Glad you got it working though.
