Well, I only played the "original one" so I can't really compare it. However I found that game to be too short - I finished it withing a week - and easy. Granted, I didn't try the 100 super jump challenge nor many of the sidequests. HOwever the core of the story is still short.

I've got to go with Dream Team, although I really don't like choosing a favorite, especially from the M&L series.

Dream Team just had so many beautifully done mechanics and ideas that really made it enjoyable. However, I'm an oddball in general, enjoying Partners in Time and Dream Team over Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside story.

Dream Team's biggest weakness is the fact that it has a super dominant strategy that involves STOPPING TIME. But hey, at least that makes the final boss bearable if you're doing a low-level run.

When I first played Superstar Saga I really liked it with its quirky dialogue, gameplay, and battle which meshes real time and turn based battle systems into one, but Bowser's Inside Story took that, expanded on it, and made it even better. Dream Team was also pretty solid, but imo it wasn't as good as the previous M&L games. I haven't played any of the Paper Mario games nor have I played Partners in Time as of yet, but I'll make sure I do in the future.

That forest maze theme, the first time we saw Yoshis with different colored shoes, etc. Best RPG featuring Mario.

I had no idea the Mario franchise had this many RPG style games. I'm honestly surprised.

The only one I've played is Legend of the Seven Stars so obviously that is going to be my favorite. I never owned most of the other systems that these games are from so I wouldn't have had the chance to play them anyway.
