You can press shift+1 or ctrl+shift+1 I believe if you want to change the controller type.
Then you reconfig the controls.

Just keep in mind that there aren't too many games that use both Sticks for PS1.

I'm also confused about these long lines of text after your posts, since you don't have a layout. So unless you are typing that, I would look into what might be causing it on your computer. Possibly some strange browser ad-on, or malware of some sort? Either way, it's viewed as word padding on here, because it's falsely increasing your post word count.

You might want to not only do a virus scan but also a malware scan.
Sometimes, virus scanners don't pick up all malware.
Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes are free and seem to do a fairly good job of clearing malware. (Use both)

And yes, the file editing method is obsolete. The emulator does a file check/write now, so if it you make it read only, it generates an error for not being able to update it.
