This is Toku-Town! Where anyone who is a fan or even a die hard nerdy fan of Tokusatsu's legacy of Televisions heroes this is the place to say anything you want about it. Post pictures, talk about new seasons and episodes. Argue over which Power Ranger is the best. I would like to turn this into its own category on the Vizzed Board, but I don't really know how to do that. I may not even be qualified to do that. So for now, it will all be confined to here. Well most of it. People who don't know about this will probably post individual Toku threads anyway. But the point is that you can have discussions about all this stuff.

Tokusatsu has an array of topics including Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Ultraman, Metal Heroes, Godzilla, Garo, the Tokusatsu Spider-Man series, Zubat, which actually has nothing to do with Pokemon, Sailor Moon (I know Eniitan would like that topic), and many MANY others.

If this doesn't turn into a discussion thread then I might use this thread to update info on Tokusatsu related stuff, or write reviews on the shows I have watched.

I hope this becomes a very successful thread.

By Saban I assume you mean Saban Entertainment? in that case, I'd like to say how Samurai Pizza Cats is better than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in every way possible.

For one, cats are obviously more interesting and cute than turtles.. And I'd also like to point out the fact that it has so many pop culture references that it makes you wonder why it even exists.

There are some innuendos too. Potentially more clever than most ones found in cartoons.

The beginning theme is pretty ew, and I think there was a rumor that the singer was drunk when it was recorded.

There isn't even an ending theme, it's just the narrator saying the same thing he always says at the end of the episode and something about a fanclub and ghghjfgh I only watch it for the references.

I just really like the fact that Saban gave the North American team a poorly translated script so they wound up writing their own script which wound up being ridiculous.

And then Saban's rights expired, and Discotek Media bought it from them. On the bright side, Crunchyroll started streaming it Dec 27 2015! which is good considering every source on the internet is just terrible quality.

EDIT: I'd also like to include the fact they break the 4th wall so much, if you made a drinking game out of how many times they did, you'd probably be dead by the 4th episode or so

The newest season of Super Sentai has come out. The first episode premiered on Feb. 14, 2016 (Just in case someone looks back on this.)
This is the 40th Anniversary Season, so there is sure to be some kind of special team up. The team is called Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger (pronounced phonetically except the "g" is like a "j"). It translates to Animal Squadron King Beast Rangers. It is a throwback to several different past seasons. It is largely based off of the 5th Super Sentai season called Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan. There were only three rangers in that season and they were based off an Eagle(red), Shark(blue), and Panther (Yellow). The difference is that the yellow ranger is a Lion, but it's still a wild cat. It could also refer to two other seasons, Liveman and Jetman, because both red rangers were eagle-themed. There is also a White Tiger Ranger, which alludes to the White Tiger Ranger of Gaoranger (Wild Force). The team is finished with an elephant-themed green ranger.

The story is that a human (the red ranger) was orphaned as a child and lived in the wilderness on his own (somehow). One day a bird-man (unfortunately not a Chozo) found him, and handed him a strange Cube. About 15 to 20 years later, this human became a defender of animals and stood up against cruelty, and things. Once while he was at some kind of animal fair or petting zoo, his Cube started glowing. He walked out in the woods, and a giant floating Cube appears out of nowhere. It rotates until a square-shaped hole is in front of the human. He puts his cube in the hole, and the side of the cube turns into a portal. The portal sucks him in and takes him to another dimension. (As if it wasn't strange enough)

When he comes out the other side, the human finds himself in a very "blocky" world (everything is literally made of cubes. This world is full of anthropomorphic beasts (basically furries). The human is humorously frightened by these beings who turn out to be very friendly. The first four he meets are a Lion, a Shark (yes, it can walk and breathe air), an Elephant, and a Tiger. The Lion, and Elephant are male. The Shark and Tiger are female. So the furries are suspicious of the human at first and are like "get off our planet". But then he shows them the Cube and they just suddenly change their minds, and befriend him. It turns out that these four furry people also have Cubes.

After they all get acquainted, the villain is revealed (I don't know his name) and he sends his first monster through a Cube portal to the furry world. The 5 soon to be heroes manage to drive him out with their bare hands. But it was too easy somehow....

The human realizes that the monster probably went to earth. He uses his Cube to open the portal and he goes through. The furry people were reluctant but quickly followed behind. The human arrives on earth to find this monster literally BURNING down the petting zoo, and people screaming and running away. The human is like "leave my people alone!", and the furry guys are like "What are you doing, idiot? You can't possibly defeat him. Humans are too weak." and then he's like, "Oh yeah? Well I'm not going to let this guy hurt the people of my world!" So he tries to put up a fight, but gets beat to a bloody pulp (Yeah. This season has blood.). The furry folks are "touched" by the human's courageous act, and decide to fight for him and the his world.

Now it's time for the first morph. The furry friends pulled out their Cubes, and rotated the top until all the colors were solid with their respective colors facing the screen. Then a colored transparent cube formed around each one like energy, and instantaneously morphed them. Then they did their role call. Each ranger has an element, and the background of the super pose ranger name call thing reflects the ranger's respective element, and they do a little burst of energy to show it off. Lion is Lightning (Lightning is yellow, and also Lion is spelled Raion in Japanese. Rai means lightning in Japanese. So yeah.), Shark is Water (obviously), Elephant is Earth (Does a cool ground stomp move), and Tiger is Snow (I guess she's a Siberian Tiger). The monster summons the thugs and the rangers have their first battle. They then try to take on the monster, but get blasted away.

Just as it looks like they are going to be destroyed, the human steps up and says a cool line, and then morphs. He turns out to be the Red Eagle Ranger. His element is air. His costume has feathered wings on the armpits that he can use to fly around. He then takes out his sword. The sword can extend and move like a segments of blades on a rope (I am sure you have seen one before). It wraps around the monster. Red Eagle Ranger pulls tightly. The sword constricts the monster until it slices through, and the monster instantly explodes.

The monster becomes giant, and aims to trample the rangers. But they unleash their zords. Their Cubes grow in size, and then unfold to reveal animal-esque images. In this season the zords can only combine three at a time. So the CubeEagle, CubeShark, and CubeLion zords fly through portal squares that appear from nowhere. This initiates the combination sequence. The zords turn into Cubes again and stack on top of each other like a totem pole. There is a hole in the center of the cubes. A pole comes down from the sky and goes into the holes, connecting the cubes together. The cubes then unfold to form the head/torso (eagle), stomach and arms, (shark), and legs (lion). The megazord then pulls the pole on the top of the pole, and a sword comes out of it. There is a short battle followed by a finishing slash.

The rest of the episode is about the rangers confirming their friendship, and agreeing to protect earth. Except for Elephant. He looks rather unhappy during the final scene. This will be the plot of episode 2. It then jumps to the end credits where they have created a dance that little kids (or crazy adults like me) can dance along to. Overall it was an awesome episode. I hope anyone who reads this enjoyed it. Future post will be more summarized therefore shorter. I will also leave a post of the new theme song below.
