I'm not really a big fan of the show. I watched the first 2 seasons because my ex-wife was watching it.

Really the whole thing is a ruse. The voting, the auditions, all of that. It's rigged, but people for some reason feel like it's "real"

Honestly the whole thing is just the worst of the worst music wise. These people are supposedly decent singers that have hardly written a song in their lives...so they go onto this show and break out in showbiz? Then you have the LEGIT musicians that have struggled and battled their whole lives to get to where they are.

Hard to respect these "pop stars" for whatever one hit wonders they become. Sure there have been a few exceptions in 15 years, but really, no one cares about 90% of these contestants.

The only time I watched that show was in 2004, when William Hung auditionned. I do not question the people's talent; not only must one be talented but also have a lot of guts. However this is not my type of show; from the bits and pieces I saw they all seem to be singing random songs in order to advance and become the next best singer.

I used to watch this show when my parents would watch it in the evenings. At the beginning I hated Simon. I thought he was a really mean jerk that had to say something negative all the time. As I got a little bit older, I realized that Simon was being honest most of the time and was pretty funny. It is kind of like in Spongebob, how little kids hate Squidward because he is a spoilsport, but parents watching the show understand his pain and root for him.

I used to watch this television show all the time and even thought about trying out for it once. My favorite audition in American Idol would have to be Pants on the Ground I couldn't stop laughing when I saw that performed on American Idol. I never paid too much attention to the judges in fact I loved seeing all the contestants try out for American Idol only to succeed (or fail!).
