Valve took a pretty big hit recently after Marc Laidlaw decided to retire from the company after working there for nearly two decades. Laidlaw himself had single handedly written both Half Life and Half Life 2 and of course denied any knowledge of Half Life 3 except for that he wont be writing it.

Does that even more ruin the chances of getting the 3rd game or even give a hint that someone else would be writing it?
