I need help, my n64 lags quite badly... or more correct my TWO n64 lag really badly. Most notable in dire dire docks in Mario 64 and a corner in paper Mario. I have not play much of games due to being put of due to lag so that's where I can really see it. What is wrong with my n64??

I looked this up a bit, and found this: http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/topic/7364782/1/

Are you using a jumper pak? That was one of the things that it mentioned. I don't know too much about this stuff myself, but...

LunarDarkness2 : I don't know how old it is, But I do know I got it from a local place called reset games. I have gotten lots of stuff from them and I 100% trust them.

Snorp02 : I believe what SWTerra is talking about is the Expansion Pak, not the Jump Pak.
The Expansion Pak increases the system RAM while the Jump Pak basically is just a ram terminator (lolz old tech ).

I don't think the Expansion Pak works with Paper Mario. I am not sure about that, but its not one of the games that are listed as "enchanced" by the pak.

I've never really had an issue where the N64 console itself lags aside from the once in awhile slowdown due to too many things on screen being rendered at once, although this was more common in the 8 and 16 bit eras than the Nintendo 64 but framerate drops can exist for games like Smash, Goldeneye and others.

Is this a PAL or NTSC N64?

Have you cleaned all the connections?

I've also heard strange occurrences where changing the TV you are using helps on rare occasions.

You can read further about a person complaining about similar stuff here - http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/topic/7364782/1/

Snorp02 : I've heard of PAL having more lag issues with regards to frame rate drop in certain games, more so than NTSC. But that's just something I read on N64 forums.

What I mean regarding cleaning the connections is cleaning the cart connectors inside the N64 as well as the game cart itself.

You can read more about cleaning your system and games here http://www.ebay.com/gds/The-BEST-way-to-clean-your-SNES-NES-N64-Game-Carts-/10000000021405083/g.html
