The US congress is at it again... They're trying to smuggle CISA in with NASAs federal budget. Becuase CISA is attached to NASAs new, huge, budget this means it is almost sure to pass. I thought I should bring this to everyones attention if they haven't already heard about it as it affects a large portion of the Internets users; anyone who lives in America or uses a site based out of the country. I urge everyone to protest CISA in any capacity they feel comfortable doing, whether that be signing petitions such as this one, spreading the news about this bill and what the implications of it passing are, or attending organized protests. This is something that, as an Internet user, I feel and know in my heart we need to stop so the 'free-net' can continue to exist.

What are everyones opinions on CISA? Do you agree that we need to stop it from becoming law, or are you one of the people who believe in passing this bill?

Are you really that surprised by this... it's obvious the government wants this passed and probably so do a lot of businesses. There is money to be made for selling information gathered from the internet. And there is likely a lot of power to be gained for the government for having this information.

Just another step towards tyranny.

geeogree : I'm not surprised in the slightest by the bill or the continued attempts to pass it. It simply... riles me up that this is what the country sitting below the one we live in is becoming. I like to stay updated on this stuff and do what I can, even if I am a minor and that means I can't do much more than put my name down on various petitions. A thread about this wasn't posted on here yesterday, so I thought I would post one today.

If more citizens decided to be more informed with regards to how some bills are passed in the US(and many other larger countries), they would be APPALLED to find out that many secret bills are passed attached to other important legislature and many times get passed without a huge portion of the population realizes it.

Sadly this usually comes back to bite people later when if it starts to negitavely have some sort of affect, (which these seedy backroom passed bills usually do)

It's a travesty actually and really makes you start to rethink the system.

It should be a surprise to no one. Just like Obamacare, nearly all bills pass in Congress contain many "earmarks" in order to buy the votes of legislators.

As long as we have such a big, overbearing government such provisions will keep coming.
