I don't see why you would be able to unless the game allows it.
If it does,I think it should just just be a matter of copying the save file to the Suikoden 2 directory and renaming it.

That is good to know.  I just bought the first Suikoden on the PlayStation network for five bucks so I could have the save game for the second Suikoden.  That is my all time favorite game.  I even wrote a partial walk through for both of them, like how and where to get all characters and items and runes
