For anyone who does not know, it's a browser/phone/tablet multi-player game. You start out as a little cell, floating around the large board absorbing smaller cells in order to grow.

You can play on your own or on teams, chasing smaller cells, run from larger ones, and attack by splitting in half. You can also donate cells, especially helpful in team play if one of the partners needs to be only a little bit larger to capture a group of enemy cells (and then they can be given back to you.)

I absolutely LOVE this game! But, unfortunately, I am terrible at it! LOL

Does anyone else play?

I played it a lot.

For about a week.

Then I got frustrated because of all the giant "ur mom" cells killing me. It's so frustrating to start out to get to a decent size, then to have some stupid big guy shoot at you so you break up into tiny little pieces.

I play it when I'm bored and want something to pass 10 minutes while I'm waiting around for something. My kids also think it's a fun game.

It's really not a great game. It's yet another fad game that 6 months from now will have faded away into obscurity again. Still, it is entertaining if you let it be. It is by far the least annoying new game I've played in a while, even if I do rage a bit once I get fairly big and then get taken out by a couple people ganging up on me.

I used to play it alot when I first found out about it but I raged way to much so I rarely play it much at all now xd...

geeogree : Indeed. It's funny how people manage to mess with my opinion all the time, though, but thinking about it, you're right, I can't wait for it to die off.
You barely need skill to play it either, therefore making it pointless. Just like COD.

Well, there is some skill involved but not tons. You have to know when to split and when not to split. There are some interesting techniques I've seen on how to avoid getting eaten and what not.

Still, my 5 and 7 year old play the game so it can't be that tough

I've played it a fair bit right before it became a big thing and someone on vizzed showed it to me. It 's a pretty good time waster and you can employ some interesting technique (when first playing I basically never split which helped with surviving). That said I also found it to be pretty pointless because there's not really much progression, no matter if you actually succeed in becoming the biggest (which I'm happy to say I did at one point 3) or fail multiple times you still die, and there's no real sense of accomplishment, which coincedentally is also one of the reasons it's so addictive...

I used to play the game A LOT but stopped because you need internet to play it which is something I don' have much of. Once they did Facebook Integration I loved playing with that so I could level up and get all sorts of bonuses. I'm pretty good at it myself but it takes a really long time to build up before you can do any damage especially in a free for all with the leaderboards.

I heard about it when it became popular but I never decided to try it. Today I just tried it out and I find it pretty interesting and fun overall. Sadly my #BlameFurret got eaten pretty quickly, the other players were hungry I guess. I think I am going to play it more often.

Thank you for making me feel even WORSE when it comes to how bad I am at this game! LOL A "good" game for me 15 minutes. A "great" game is 30 minutes. More often than not I last 5 minutes or less: just enough time to eat dots, get bigger, and make others care that I am not a new dot anymore.

I feel like there is something that I am missing that other players know about or can see. While smaller, and wandering around eating dots, it is very VERY rare for some guy half my size to show up, on his own close enough for me to see and be sure that I can capture him whereas I am often captured by a guy off screen that I never even knew was there.

Then, if I get bigger and know that I am going to get eaten by some larger guy under my current speed, I split to try and eject part of me far away. Instead, the player ejects just as far and fast (which I do not seem to be able to do when I am that same size) and gets both pieces at once. Either that or I do not split because the person only looks a little bigger and I know that I can outrun him, only to have him split into pieces that in no way look like they are half as big as the original and I get eaten.

Lastly, if I am lucky enough to get relatively large, I have little guys cowering around me and someone only a little smaller than me comes along, eats those guys and makes him big enough to eat me. I never have that opportunity either.

CobraGuy : oh trust me, a lot of my games end in the first 5 minutes but once I get to a certain size I can usually get on the leader board. Still, most of my turns don't go well. I find the lag the worst part though. I'll lag as I'm trying to run away from someone and that allows them to split and eat me. I hate it when that happens.


Still, doesn't make the game hard from a skill stand point. With only 2 abilities there aren't too many possible strategies.

I play agar.io way too much.
It's very fun though.

I play it from time to time when I'm really bored and have nothing better to do. It can be fun for 10 minutes and then it just gets old.

So instead of trying to survive myself my goal is to mess with others. Making them split into tiny pieces, hiding in the viruses, etc. Always fun when you can take down someone from the leader board

I am suddenly doing a lot better over the past three days playing Teams (I still struggle with Free For All because there are too many really good players keeping me from reaching a decent enough size to fight back.)

I enjoy the game fine as long as I can capture, split-escape, aid, be aided, and not die due to a mistake on mine or a stupid move on another player's part. Is that so much to ask?

But now, in the world of larger cells, I have discovered people who intentionally sabotage the game for others. I have been playing for about 20-25 minutes. I am nose to nose with another cell, both of us are a significant size. I am green; he is blue. I have to ignore plenty of targets because I can't split else he will be able to kill me. The same is true for him. This stalemate will only be broken when one of us reaches a virus or a teammate comes along to feed one of us. Almost two minutes of chasing and it appears that I am in luck! Here comes one of my green guys who is about 1/3rd of our size... who proceeds to intentionally feed almost his entire payload to the blue guy who over-masses me and then feeds the guy back.

I disagree. Solely being an online game always playing against new people is enough for it to run for many years until it gets too crowded and no one wants to pay for new servers.

I used to play Armagetron Advanced, which is a Tron Light Bike game in 3D. The game has been around for 14 years, the gameplay has not changed in all of that time except for running more smoothly.. yet the servers are still running, filled with ultra-expert players who have also mastered exploitation of a few bugs making it impossible for the average player to last more than a few seconds.

CobraGuy : that's kind of what I mean though. In not too long you'll have most people having played the game and a small elite group of players who have figured out the best way to exploit the game making it nearly impossible for regular people to play and it will become a battle of super skilled players. That's one of the things I hate about online PVP style games.

This game interested me for about 3 mins tops and I un-installed it on my phone because I wanted to free up space. It's a decent game, but those type of games really don't keep me entertained for too long. Just not my cup of tea. I need more action lol

I forgot to mention another annoyance (though not nearly as bad) once you finally get larger. Suddenly little cells crowd around you for protection. Next thing that you know, a guy too big for you splits into them, eating them all and growing large enough to take you out.

I am all for the protecting to an extent, but I have had many many times been two balls of 300 mass each, and here comes a 60 mass guy hiding in the center (which no one else nearby.) I know that some of them are hoping to be fed, but what is the point of playing if you are going to hide where you have no way of eating. I am constantly moving all over the grid. Trying to stay between two much larger cells only traps you.

I could try training you to get better, but I would probably fail! LOL What I finally learned is to expect to die a lot, and when you finally are not tiny anymore, still do not split into more than two pieces when you are not very large unless you are trying to escape inevitable capture. Split as soon as you can at the beginning. You are neither more nor less likely to get eaten at this stage, yet you are faster, take up more width, and can feed almost twice as quickly.
