I was looking around and I want to play a lot of games...only problem is that many of these games cost quite a bit Viz to play and I'm not sure how that works. Is it a rental? Do I have to pay EVERY time? And the items to play without worry seem very expensive too. And there is no DS roms that I can see, unless they're in the regular game room. And the money to play without worry is more than I could afford and I'm not sure I have the time to constantly think of new things to say since I tend to suffer from writer's block. Plus there are ads on the site, don't those pay for it?

I really love gaming but can't always devote time to the gaming itself, let alone on earning virtual cash so I can play said games. I know it looks like a lot of whining but this is a very valid concern for me and many other new members I'm sure. And I'm also sure those site review pages might get mad if somebody told them that you were offering virtual cash to play games in exchange for a positive review on their site. It also seems like cheating. Which while I don't mind in a single player game, in a multi player game or life, cheating is just being mean or rude. Although I am tempted to go through and put a review/warning on those Pokémon hacks and similar that I know to be incomplete.

I also like playing some games that are untranslated and am curious to know if those may have been translated or not, Primarily ZOIDs games and a few others are of primary concern in this department.

I'm also concerned that some games that might be controversial (not porn) might be hard to find if the site considers itself family friendly.

Well , uh if you'll watch the add you're not going to pay for playing. Money is only used to donate.
You're paying for playing games and buying items with Viz points. You can earn them by making videos for games , posting , visiting site every day , by donating and I'm not sure if there are other ways.
So , as I've said real money is needed only for donating.
Heh , don't worry.  Writing reviews is like posting in normal threads. 
Yeah , the site is family friendly , however there are ,,mature games" like Conker's Bad Fur Day or Metal Gear Soild (or something like that).
By the way , games aren't that expensive. They cost 3 or maybe 5 Viz.

All the games I want to play cost like 45 or more, Dragon Warrior VII won't even give me the option to play it. (It's a PS1 game). I also just spend over a half hour writing a review only to have it not accept it. -sighs.-

You need PSX item to play PSX games and RGR Plugin (which is free and safe [it's needed to play every system]). Also the Retro Game Room allows you to play while Video Game Room allows you to view info about games , add them to your collection. By the way if you've got PSX item you'll play PSX games for free. (Some games costs 60 Viz to play but by watching the add you'll play for free.)

Tama10 : I can;'t afford that item...it just seems a bit complicated way to run a site.

CeilYurei : PS1 games are the only exception where you will have to buy the playstation item in the item store for 50.000 Viz if you want to play them. The games are quite large and could cause some server strain.

Also, what part about reviews seems like cheating? The Viz price is only there to encourage users to write reviews and to give them a reward for their work.

Well since I already failed to summon you with a reply in that other thread (but the answer is still there) I won't repeat myself here.

As for you question about the translated games: there are some translation hacks for Japan only games, but not a ton to my knowledge.

And about controversial content: Yes, some games have been removed from the site due to unacceptable content, such as nudity for example. If these games are reported to the owner, they will be removed. The only reason they would stay unless reported however would be because he cannot play through them all to check for any content like that, or scan the web for them.

And finally the review issue: I hate to hear that, man. It does happen sometimes with reviews, but none of us have figured out why. There are some cases that have been explained, but other times it's seemed random.
It won't help now, but if you write one again, I highly recommend writing them in notepad and pasting them into the text field on here, or if you write it on here directly then copying it before submitting it is a good idea. For now this is the only way to safeguard against that. Hopefully when the other site work is finished, David can find a way to fix the glitch entirely.

Eirinn : It was on the Zoids: Legacy page. The first guy's review was...a bit lacking. Heck, I played that game enough I could write a walkthrough with tips on where to farm ZOIDs and such. And which ones are worth keeping till later in my own opinion. And I hope I can remember that.

Just want to throw in that an easy way to earn Viz is by rating videos, reviews, and screenshots. 

Ceilyurei - Oh that would be great (a needed review)! I'm one of the Review Managers, so I would definitely appreciate it. lol Plus reviews bring in more Viz per word than anything on here.

The only Zoids game I've played was Zoids: Legacy actually. I really enjoyed that one, and would easily consider it one of my favorite GBA games.

But yeah, by all means, write up some reviews. We'd love to see your opinions on the games.

2)How is posting a review for Viz cheating? Well known members even myself have done reviews just for the Viz or CP.
The way I see it, is it also increases site traffic too as more likely people new to those games will find out they can play them here, and see how good or bad it is.

You don't have to worry about spending cash every time you play. You pay it once, and then it's done. The only time you spend real money is when you donate to keep the servers running and things like that. It's actually really easy to earn Viz (or maybe that's just because I blabber a lot on these boards .-.) Regardless, you shouldn't worry too much. You can just drop into a few threads every now and then a post a small paragraph to earn the Viz back. Otherwise, you should have enough Viz to play several games (or I did). 

But at any rate, I don't know about DS rom games or if they have them. I haven't played around a lot with the Video Game Room. I'm thinking it's more for discussion though... don't quote me on that. 

Thanks for the help. I've also played several of the rom hacks for Pokémon on here. And trust me, if I play a game I've wanted to try and love or hate it I'd let ye know in a review, lol.

CeilYurei : Here's the thing. The games cost Viz to try to offset the bandwidth usage from downloading a ton of files. The owner thought of it as a way to reward people for being active on the site.

Honestly Viz is easy to obtain. Aside from the easiest way (Which is to donate to the site to support updates of the RGR plugin and new content) there are many other ways where you can get Viz in short order.

Writing reviews/walkthroughs and uploading videos to the Vizzed YT page pays out VERY well.

Then some faster ways to earn Viz (payouts are smaller) are as follows;

Rating Games/Screenshots/Reviews/videos.

Commenting on games pages

Posting in the forums.

Rating users posts

Uploading screenshots

Most of these you can get several hundred Viz in just a few mins.

competing in monthly RGR competitions and tournaments.

There's also a Vizzed Generosity thread were users donate Viz to users in need.

Heck, you even get Viz for logging in every day.

Also, David has made many of the games basically free. This would include all the cartiridge based systems aside from the N64. The only games that are expensive Viz wise are the larger CD based games.

Here's the thing. Once you purchase a game. You "own" it. The file is downloaded onto your HD and you can play it as many times as you want. You can even "sell back" some of your games that you don't play any longer for a partial refund.

I'm not quite sure how any of this is "cheating" as this is the best way to run a site like this and keep the costs down while still remaining to keep this site "FREE" for everyone. Trust me, if you are semi active on the site you will have enough Viz to play the games you want.

I actually own several of the rom hacks on the site already. Downloaded onto my pc from elsewhere. I think I'll post a walkthorugh when I have more time to do make one, same with reviews.
