I am having trouble using the dreamcast NullDC emulator for the game Skies of Arcadia. It goes to the loading screen but simply stays at 0%. I am using firefox on windows 8. I have also tried this emulator on a few other games and it loads but then stays on the NullDC emulator screen? Any Ideas?

hijacked : That's strange that you are having an issue with that game. I just tested it myself and played through when they get to "Pirate Island" and it seems to be working fine. Just takes some time to DL and start up for the first time. I tested in Chrome using RGR plugin 2.40 in Win 10

NULLDC does require a controller to be plugged in to load the games (Just sticks at the NULLDC screen) But I'm not sure if that is the specific problem you are experiencing or not.

Are you sure there are no error pop-ups?
If you go to your vizzed data folder, you should find an emustdoutput.txt
Scroll to the bottom and see if there are any errors being generated.
Typically, you will see )Error followed by a description of issue.

Copy and paste that to this thread.

hijacked : Any USB controller would work. A very nice affordable option that I always reccomend is the Logitech F310. Is basically exactly like a dual shock controller and works with all emulators. You can get it for about 15$usd.

You can also get Playstation 3 and 4 controllers to work as well as the WIRED Microsoft 360 controllers.

hijacked : No problem at all. I just wanted to clarify because a lot of people make that mistake. Sadly Microsoft has those set up where the charge cable transfers no information at all. So it's not able to connect via the charge kit to your PC properly.

hijacked : Try updating your video drivers and make sure you have the latest directx installed.
That is a D3D11 issue.
