So i never knew that a Jack Black movie could be so good. When the movie first came out and I was deciding on whether or not to see it, I was on Fandango and the fan rating said it was 4 stars. Half an hour later that went up to 4 and a half stars so I decided to see it and I didn't regret it.
Its one of the funniest movies that I have seen all year, there were all sorts of gags and puns that made the movie wonderful, heck, the very first scene started off with a good laugh. The movie started with the main character and his mom moving from New York City to a small town called Madison. The lines I say are along the lines of what was said because I don't remember exactly how they went.
He asks his mom "Why Madison? Of all places?" She responds saying "where else could we have gone?"
"I don't know, Guantanamo Bay?"
"Too hot."
"North Korea?"
"Didn't call me back."
"............ Detroit."
Most of the acting was really silly, and that's what made the movie so funny because it was meant go be something that you couldn't stop laughing to and that's exactly what it does. Jack Black did a great job playing RL Stine, he was funny yet dark and mysterious at the same time. You also had Dylan Minnete and Odeya Rush, and their roles were pretty good too.
The graphics were top notch as well, a lot of the stories that came to life looked amazing and like most of the real humans, they brought a lot of comedy as well and a heck of a lot of puns, clichés, and whatnot.
The music was really good too, and was in fact composed by Danny Elfman, who is known for doing the music for most strange and mysterious movies, like almost all of the Tim Burton movies.
Overall, the movie was a blast, easily one of the 10 funniest movies that I have ever seen and I would definitely watch it again in theaters.
