Its probably nothing more than a silly coincidence, but many fans are already looking at the possibilities of another Half Life game after updating to the new version of dota 2 to find that a folder marked hl3.txt, that contained things such as npc's and other thing related to Half Life.

It could mean something, it could have been a mistake, or even just a simple joke. What do you think?

It's most likely a joke: an easter egg meant to bait the gullible, those who desparetly want the third installment of a beloved series to finally be announced after so many years. I'm not to familiar with Valves history in regards to how it treats the Steam community though, so I don't know how likely it is that this is an easter egg or a teaser. Gaming companies are known to joke with thier consumers occasionally, some are more inclined to do so than others though.

Probably just a gag for people who look through the files of the game. Who knows, they might actually have Half-Life 3 in the works! But we'll never know until it's confirmed. And I think we can all agree that this is just a joke put in by the designers. They've already shown that they love trolling their fans with previous statements, so this shouldn't be such a surprise. If and when HL3 actually does come out, hopefully it will have been worth the weight.

Well, this is probably a joke because it kind of goes with the fake leaks for new games on Steam, including Final Fantasy X and Half Life 3. I don't think we will get confirmation unless we see a trailer on the front page of Steam.
