Probably at school, with the magical ICQ, trying for the first time to chat with everybody.

Also, if I recall correctly, all girls (and boys if I think clearly now) were going to the website called "LoveCalculator", and were gossiping on possible matches between improbable people. Haha!

Otherwise, the first time we used it at home, it was my older brother that was showing my dad (whom never used it) how it worked. We went to a website named "trucks.com", or something in that style, and it was pretty much it.

When I first started using the internet I believe I was about 5 or 6 and the first thing I remember doing was playing this educational game called "Jump start 1st grade". My mother got it for me and back then games where still on discs for the computers and we still have the game to this day but we threw out the old block style moniter and tower.

As a kid I always used to go on Microsoft Word and type out as many smileys as possible. I would sometimes look for new smileys on the internet and then just continue on Word.

Most likely, I played with maps and almanacs and information.  That seems about my speed.  I remember downloading a picture of a chicken and it would load screen by screen by screen because we had internet over the phone line.  The phones were only able to do few bytes of info a second.  And the phone line was busy if someone tried to call in.  We didn't even have two lines then.

I honestly don't remember, since it was probably close to a decade ago that I first got on the Internet. It's most likely that I did a lot of online gaming, though. Even around that time period, online games were surprisingly popular.

Of course, I also did a lot of YouTube watching. I might have started watching in 2007, 2008, something like that. I watched a lot of Let's Plays, game reviews, and machinimas, since those were very popular around that time period. I remember my family banning me from using YouTube because they caught me watching AVGN, which was an interesting experience.

Some of the posters in this thread mention being on dial-up, but I never really got to experience that. My family had DSL from the moment I started using the Internet. I honestly can't imagine browsing the Internet with dial-up...
