Windows XP was a operating system I used throughout most of my life, and only stopped using it when I got a Windows 8.1 computer which I soon upgraded to Windows 10. I would say that yes I like the OS a lot, since it was part of my childhood as well as being compatible with a lot of my PC games where as my Windows 10 is not.

XP was one of the better operating systems, but I honestly feel like it was time to let go of XP.

XP always had the speed and capability to be amazing, and was amazing, but it ran its course when it couldn't get all of the avalabe features that were needed. I don't have an XP computer anymore, I replaced it with a 7 a while back, but I enjoyed using it until it wasn't the best any more for me.

I absolutely loved XP. I'm currently running Vista (so retro, I know...), and it's not nearly as bad as people seem to make it out to be. I did prefer XP, but this one works just fine for everything I need it to. If I still had XP to use, you could bet your butt I'd still be running it

Mynamescox44 : Vista was the last good Windows to me. Windows 7 started the rubbish, and was basically a copy of Vista with 2 changes.

Windows 10 is actually better than Windows XP. I'm pretty sure it runs very fast on old computers, not just new ones.

XP is a wonderful system. It was friendly, easy to use,and things made sense on it. A lot of things still use XP and that is proof that it was a good OS.

I still really like Windows XP. The first time i used a PC had XP on it. I will still use XP today if Microsoft didn't kill it. Windows 7 is good, 10 is meh. Lets not think about 8/8.1

Windows 8.1 was Xbox meets Windows 7 except you couldn't play Xbox games on it.

RDay13 : It's funny how our opinions differ. I much preferred Vista over Windows 7, mainly because Service Pack 2 for Vista brings it up to a faster speed than Windows 7 (albeit almost un-noticeable) and has more features and stability - although the RTM and SP1 were quite bad and slow. I've never tried Windows 8 but 8.1 was okay, and I'm using Windows 10 right now, and think it's nearly as good as Windows XP.
When you used XP, what service pack was it running? If it was before 2005, it wouldn't have run SP2, and wouldn't have been so great as I think it is.

The more I use Windows 7 the more I don't like XP, but I'd still pick XP over Vista any day. I've heard horror stories about windows vista and I never want anything to do with it.

yoshirulez! : All the horror stories come from people who never used SP2, they likely only tried it when it came out or at SP1, which were complete garbage.

I grew up into an age that has computers everywhere. Computers control almost everything in this generation, and yet, such a basic operating system with limited internet support is so loved. I love XP. I grew up with it. I used it from about 2006-2012. I would've used it earlier, but I crashed the hard drive and broke the screen. Now that I am proficient at computer repair, I'm working on getting the data restored and getting the laptop back to working order. I just have to wait for Hirens BootCD to download (slow internet).

Anyways, I'm getting off-topic. Windows XP is just awesome. I loved the start up sound, the backgrounds, and just the overall theme. I loved that it could run fast (for that time, anyways). I ran all of my little kid games on there and I used it everyday after school. Would I go back to using it as a personal OS? No, but only because of how slow it would run and/or limited internet capability. Would I use it if I didn't need internet? Definitely.

Fancied: It doesn't have limited internet access, you should be able to connect to a WPA2-PSK (AES) connection with relatively high speeds, if you get an XP-compatible wireless dongle for high speed internet (most XP machines don't come with high speed ones so eh). Also, XP would probably still run fast, it ran fast for my old 1 GB RAM, Atom N270 processor Acer Aspire One netbook... It was one of the best performing OS's ever that Microsoft created (the other one being Win2K).

I haven't used XP in a few years but I remember starting to dislike it more and more. The actual interface is decent enough, I mainly like how it's less cluttered, in that it doesn't constantly pester you about updating stuff and such. It was also pretty user friendly in terms of being easy to grasp and not having a ton of bloatware. However the lack of support by various applications combined with lack of attention from Windows sort of killed it for me as the years went on, it became too much of bother in order to be able to use it that switching to Windows 7 just became easier.

Yes. I got quite a few memories from back when I still had a Windows XP computer. So many games I played, mostly breakout clones, mahjongg and the occasional arcade style game. It's a shame I don't have one anymore. Those games I used to play just don't work properly on Windows 10 without lots of tweaking. If I had the chance to get another computer with Windows XP, I'd definitely take the chance.

I used XP because it was the only OS I knew for years, but once I got on 7 and tried to go back to XP I hated it. It's so restrictive and just...not functional for what I needed it to do. I haven't tried 8 or above, but so far 7 is my favorite.

Too bad Linux isn't a realistic choice for most people anymore. Windows and Mac (especially Windows) are products I don't exactly throw my money at eagerly. I wouldn't support Apple or MS in anything if I had a viable alternative.

I've had great memories with Windows XP, but I'm not a big fan of it nowadays.

When I was 5-10, I would use it to go on family guy's old website, customize my myspace profile and watch my parents customize theirs, watch youtube videos with my mom, watch my mom and dad shop on E-bay and overstock, watch shows on hulu with my parents, and play flash games without permission.

In 2011-2012, mom and I used our desktop as our main computer, I would use it for homeschooling, and surfing the web in general. I remembered clearly that the internet was very slow and froze up alot to where we had to get a laptop.

When I hooked it back up in 2013, it booted up slow, but when I played games on it, it ran smoothly.
