For about two weeks after I saw the movie, I was debating whether it should be my favorite movie of all time, that's how much I loved it. I saw it twice in theaters, both times in IMAX and it was incredible. I have been a huge fan of the series for many years but nothing could prepare me for the experience with this one, it was just fantastic.

Just the effects and action scenes alone are nothing short of spectacular, heck the very first scene features Ethan Hunt running across the top of a plane, and hanging onto the door as it takes off, and yes that actually was Cruise pulling off the stunt on a plane that was actually moving. When you see a clip that's so full of adrenaline, you don't really expect it to get better, but it does.

Every moment of the film features heart stopping action, from the scene where Ethan is under water to the scene at the Opera. The Opera scene was one of my favorites because even though there wasn't as much action, the film made a great use of the environment, whether it was the lighting, which gave off a dark, mysterious, and intense vibe, or the music which only enhanced.

Unlike most action movies, which live or die on pure action scenes, Rouge Nation easily creates dramatic scenarios without throwing a punch. One example of this is the encounter between Brandt, Hunley, Attlee, and the Prime Minister, which features the series' most iconic move and should have left fans wide eyed.

It wasn't just the action that made the movie so awesome, the casting played a very important role in the awesomeness of the movie, a far better role than any of the previous installments. First off you're brining back part of the team from Ghost Protocol, and on top of that you're adding Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, and Alec Baldwin, all of whom do a near perfect job. Ferguson had done a great job as the female hero/villain, and is easily one of the best female acting performances I have ever seen in an action movie.

Then you had Harris who played Solomon Lane, the supervillian leader of the Syndicate. His performance was one of the best, what he did was everything you would want from a villain, not only was he already an extremely evil person, he wasn't afraid to take the extra step and go too far. Everything from the way he talks, to his behaviors were right on par with the perfect bad guy, right up there with the villain of Skyfall and a few other of Hollywood's historic villains. Then you had Baldwin who played a CIA big shot, and though he didn't have much of an impact on the movie, aside for making tracking the Syndicate so much harder by dissolving the IMF, he was mostly there for comedic purposes but did a great job.

It wouldn't be a Mission Impossible movie without Cruise, and he did what he does best, wowing us with his coolness and his awesome stunts, nothing really needs to be said about him.

We do need to talk about Jeremy Renner though, who alongside Cruise and Harris had one of the best performances of the film. It takes a lot to have your presence felt, without really doing anything and that's exactly what Renner's character Brandt had done. Half the time he was in the background and half the time he was arguing, and he never laid a finger on anyone, but even so, his role was powerful. Renner has done a great job with this role, a firm 2nd place behind Cruise on the coolness scale, and without him, a lot of the things that happened in the film, never would have.

Do I really have to say any more about the movie? Do I even have to mention the soundtrack which is already iconic? Nope, I don't, go out and see it while you still can. Not only is it one of the best action movies of this year, it's one of the bet action movies of the last couple of years.
