When this movie had first cane out back in 2010, it was one of my favorite movies of all time but then I forgot all about it and I really regret doing that because if was an amazing movie. I just recently got back into the world of Scott Pilgrim and I was really impressed by what I saw because it was a great movie full of really good laughs and cool action scenes. Sure, mist of the really good moments had been copies the exact same way they were in the graphic novel, but actually seeing them said or done was really amazing.
"What's the website for amazon.ca?" The stuff that they said was really amazing, and pretty much every little thing that was done in the movie was so funny and clever. One thing that I loved was how the entire movie was video game based, even the Universal intro which was done with an 8 bit music style and sounded great. Other than that, the entire thing was all video game based, you had extra lives, you had fictional swords coming out of you, there were superpowers, and yes, you even had coins sputtering out of people when they were defeated and even scores. The movie follows the life of Scott Pilgrim, who meets this cool American girl Romana and dates her, but because of some bad sating history on her part, he needs to defeat all of her 7 evil ex boyfriends in order to be with her. Oh, let's not forget that all of them have some sort of super power and at the same time he's also dating a 17 year old high schooler, which all leads to some epic drama The effects were just stunning, whenever there was a scene that needed some sort of graphics, the creators made sure to go all out, especially with the fights. I loved how every little punch had a comic style to it, like you could see the Pows and such and there was always some video game feel to it. There were scenes where people are running towards each other in that fast motion style, theres scenes where people (mostly Scott) are getting blasted around, and there are scenes that just look amazing. I'd have to say that my favorite is the scene in the battle of the bands against the twins and the scene against the vegan because they both look spectacular. When it comes to the battle against the twins, it's a full on music brawl and all the fighting is literally with the music. The twins play one awesome note, and literally waves of energy just wash over Scott and his band and then both bands end up creating giant creatures made of energy who battle each other, and this is all with them playing their instruments and it looks wicked. The other scene against the vegan is just as great because you see Scott getting blasted through walls and stuff, and you see the cool looking Vegan Police in action. That's really just the tip if the iceberg when you are talking about effects because theres so much more, including so many video game references in the movie, and yes, there's a Peometer, which measures how much pee Scott has left while he's in the bathroom. I'd say that the acting is pretty cool as well though there was so many main characters that it's really impossible to know who everyone is. In fact, as for main characters, there are I believe 15 of them, though I only really know like 4 of them. Michael Cera did a great job as Scott, he's already so funny to begin with that the role was perfect for him and he aced it. He took every little piece from the graphic novel and made it just as good with his great acting. Brie Larson was also in the movie as Scotts previous girlfriend. I remember her from The Gambler, and if anything, she's just as evil as any of the evil exs that Scott has to face. You have Anna Kendrick who played Scotts sister, and I really wouldn't have anyone else play her because the way she played the role was hilarious and you also had Chris Evans play one of the bad guys and he was awesome at it, especially when Scott had to gave an army if his stunt doubles, who I suspect all were played by him as well. That's all I actually know from the cast, but everyone else had done a great job with their roles because they all made the graphic novel come to life and made it look beautiful in multiple ways. The music was all great as well. All the music was actually performed by the actors and as a part of the band that Scott was a part of. A lot of the songs were pretty silly, but for the most part, almost all of them were top notch songs, worthy of their own real albums. My favorite was Threshold, I remember when I first started liking the movie many years ago I downloaded this song and uses to listen to it all the time. Ita a really good song and there's even an 8 bit version of it which is just as good. All in all, if you haven't seen the movie, then there's a lot that you are missing out on because it's really the best combination of action and comedy that you can ask for and it's still one kd my favorite movies of all time, easily top 10 in fact. Like the concept of the movie. A guy must fight the girl's exes. Now me, I would probably run cuz all my ex's bfs were gang bangers. Well, wannabe gang bangers but hell. I could fight a dude, but not a bullet. Also like the whole video game themed graphics after Scott defeated an EX: Coins, swords, even a 1-Up. A really unique romantic comedy of sort. |
