It does that for me too. I don't think it's by design but it really isn't a big deal. As long as it shows on your profile then you still have the equipment.

This might be due to the future transition to a new site layout.
It seems the descriptions for all the categories have been changed too.

I did notice tho, if you go to a specific page, it does show the items you own at the top of the page.
