After a 7-year hiatus, manga artist Akira Himekawa is picking up the pen to continue The Legend of Zelda manga.

Himekawa, a pseudonym for the collaborated work of mangakas A. Honda and S. Nagano, had illustrated ten volumes in the series before ceasing development of the printed franchise. The last volume, The Phantom Hourglass, was released back in 2009, and since then, the manga series has been largely absent of new work until the prequel short for Skyward Sword inserted in the back of Hyrule Historia, making its way stateside a full four years later in 2013.

However, on July 2nd, Himekawa released an announcement on their Facebook and Twitter pages telling fans that the series would now return.

“2015, after 7 years… The Legend of Zelda manga series returns! Please support it!” both their website and social media pages proclaim.

Their website features promotional a image of a silhouette of Link, besides which the authors write, “Which version of me can you meet this time? Please look forward to finding out!”

To see more artwork and series by Himekawa or read the announcement, see the links below. Please note that the official website is in Japanese.

Dragonlord Stephi : YESS!!! All of my yes! Zelda's back in manga form! And boy did I miss him.

But seriously, I'm excited for this! Ever since I found a display with all of the Zelda manga in a nearby bookstore; I've been addicted to them. I read them all...then bought one of them because I felt kinda bad about reading all of them for free. lol But back onto the main topic. He's been a great writer, and I've loved what he's done with the series so far. I can't wait to see what he'll make next.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

A user of this : I was so ecstatic! I follow them on FB, so when Himekawa updated their status with the news, I just had to share it with the Vizzed community.

First of all, I am a super big fan of manga in general and Zelda even more so. Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask was my childhood and I read all the books and played all the games besides that odd one were you go around trying to claim a map with all your troops. I really love the classic Zelda game play and series and I really cannot wait till the new manga is released! So much hype! Anyway ill probably read just about anything they are willing to release! By the way, I would probably play that odd ball Zelda title if I had a Wii U but I sadly don't have the money for such a station. Which means ill probably miss out on that new Zelda on the way too... Anyway I'm really looking forward to the new manga and games (when I can actually play them) and hope the best for the series all together.
