After countless demands for Square Enix to do so, there will finally be a Final Fantasy VII next-generation remake coming to the PlayStation 4 as a timed exclusive, though it is uncertain as to when and what other systems this game will be released. As expected from the 2007 E3 demo of Final Fantasy VII, the game will sport the look of the film Advent Children: Final Fantasy VII and as a result, features high quality graphics that rival that of the upcoming Final Fantasy XV!

Those were the only details shown at Sony's E3 2015 Conference, however. Keep in mind that this does not replace the re-release of the original version of Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 4, which should keep new players up to speed with the story of the game in the meantime. Final Fantasy VII was easily the most popular video game on the original PlayStation, and it's about time fans enjoy this game again the way it's meant to be. Here is hoping that it is released by 2016, though realistically it may take until early 2017.

Hope it gets a Steam release, currently the only consoles I have interest in are Nintendo. Thanks for sharing by the way.

Thanks for the responses! Putting it on PlayStation 4 is a smart move...but having it be only a timed exclusive? I imagine only fans of the original getting a PS4 just for Final Fantasy VII Remake, while everybody else waits for the PC and Xbox One games, assuming that it'll be released on those systems. As for Nintendo, they will at least have NX announced by 2016 that may handle the likes of that game. In either case, I believe they'll announce a release date by 2016 and it will be ready by 2017 the latest.

I have heard about this remake and i cant wait. Ive played crises core and a hour or two of seven and i want to see what graphical changes they have made to the game.

This is just a though.  Do you guys think this is a ploy to have FF fans buy a PS4 ?

Foodperson - Wouldn't this be the first FF game on a Nintendo system since the SNES if it hits the NX? That would be huge, but I don't expect it.

Elrinn: They made Final Fantasies on Nintendo consoles even after the Super Nintendo, but they are never main games in the series. Honestly, if this game doesn't come to the NX soon after the PS4 version, it will be too late. It needs to be released no later than 6 months after the PS4 release so that even Nintendo fans can jump into it without ponying up for Sony's phony (IMO) device. Other than that, Sony is grabbing us by the balls now.

I really still don't see what Sony's doing wrong. What company wouldn't score an FF7 Remake exclusive if they could? They are a business and have to operate like one after all. Heck, I wouldn't be upset if XBox scored this one as an exclusive, though I would be disappointed. Besides, I fully expect an XBox One version since this is just a timed exclusive.
