After a few year hiatus, I was finally able to see the Indy 500 broadcasted again in Spain.
As always, competition was fierce, a lot of overtaking action and also a lot of accidents. Two of them went wrong: a mechanic had to be taken to hospital after being hit by an incoming car in the pits, supposedly with a broken leg in the worst case, and Sebastian Saavedra, who injured his right foot in a multiple car accident in the last quarter of the race.
Juan Pablo Montoya claimed his second Indy 500, having won it back in 2000. The crucial moment was on the last lap, when Juan Pablo Montoya successfully overtook Justin Wilson, who was coming out of the pits after running out of gas, but Will Power, who was going very fast to try to claim his first win in Indy, wasn't that lucky and ended up behind Wilson, which gave Montoya a little gap to cross the line in first position.
Nice to see Montoya doing well again. I first heard of him when he raced in Formula One, here in Europe, about ten years ago. H then returned to America, competed in the NASCAR and then switched again to return to the IndyCar. Congratulations, Juan Pablo, you did an awesome race.
