My motherboard fried in my computer yesterday that I was given by a friend almost 3 years ago.

I'm building something suited for high end video editing and stuff of the like. My budget is $1600.
I went to pcpartpicker.com and started clicking on stuff.
Here's what I managed to fumble together on a few hours research and such.

CPU Intel Core i7-5930K 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($552.95)
CPU Cooler NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($129.99)
Motherboard ASRock X99M Extreme4 Micro ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($168.98)
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws 4 series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($164.99)
Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 Memory ($0.00) already own
Storage Mushkin Chronos 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($0.00) already own
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($0.00) already own
Video card EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card ($329.99)
Case NZXT Phantom 240 ATX Mid Tower Case ($64.99)
Power Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($44.99)
Optic drive Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($19.99)

Total: $1475.77

I can't think of anything else I'm missing, but I'm begging for suggestions by someone more knowledgeable then myself.

My only knowledge is experience in building one on my own. The thing I really have to say is that you really DO NOT need to spend that much on a cooler. My build is pretty much the exact same as yours, and I spent 20 bucks on my cooler. Arctic cooler freezer 7 is a great choice for very little

I think you are spending too much on your processor and your cooler. I think you should swap out that gfx card for a Titan. It is made for video editing. You will be paying more, but you might be able to find one on sale for around $600-800. Also why the micro motherboard? You are going to screw yourself on pci pci - e slots. You will only be able to fit the gfx card. I would look at MSI or Gigabyte motherboards. Asrock has really bad customer service, then again so do a lot of mobo companies.
Other than that it looks good.

I agree with the above 2 posts.

CPU:
The i7-5930K is a great CPU, and has more I/O lines than the cheaper i7 processors, but if you are looking for a little more money to go toward a better motherboard or video card then you may consider an i7-4790K or the i7-5820K instead which are about $200 cheaper. Also, I believe the new Skylake Processors are coming out later this year, so you may want to look into that.

CPU cooler:
There is a lot of information out there about water-cooling vs air-cooling. It depends on what you are looking for. I bought a H100i all in one (AIO) CPU cooler much like the Kraken you chose. In retrospect, I probably would have gone with an air cooler because there are less components to fail and damage your computer components. There are pros and cons to each, just have to fit what you are looking for.

Motherboard (Mobo):
Basically what sYndROCK said. I try to stick to MSI, Gigabyte, or ASUS for Mobos, since the Mobo is the heart of your computer. Also, if you have a Microcenter nearby I highly recommend buying a motherboard/cpu combo from them to save money and because some internet vendors tend to poorly package items and they end up getting damaged in shipping, same goes for mechanical hard drives.

ASUS seems to have more features with their motherboards
Gigabyte seems to have more minimalist approach
MSI is probably in-between

I recommend sorting your list of Mobos on pcpartspicker.com to ATX (most common Mobo size instead of the MicroATX you picked) and finding a suitable case as well. Check to see what others have built on there.

Power Supply:
I recommend buying a different power supply. The power supply is proving the proper power to all your components, so in my opinion, it seems important to buy a quality unit as an investment protecting all your expensive components. Check out this thread on Tom's Hardware to see a tiered list of power supplies.

Memory:
I thought it was odd that you had your old DDR2 memory listed, so I was not sure if you know or not, but you won't be able to use the DDR2 with your new build.

Video Card:
Not sure what your time frame is, but with windows 10 on the near horizon new videos cards will be coming out as well. Supporting the latest DirectX.

Let us know if you need additional help.
