sonicmcmuffin : yeah, that 2-player option was a big plus. I remember helping my sister - she had superior skills - with the Metropolis boss. Solo, it's nearly impossible to get out of it intact unless you get your timing more accurate than a Japanese train.

My favorite Sonic game would have to be a tossup of the Original or Sonic CD. Both are VERY quality games. Can't go wrong with either one!

I do also enjoy the first Sonic Adventure game on Dreamcast.

My favorite 2-D sonic game would have to be sonic CD. I loved the intro and the song that plays during it, I'd sometimes replay the intro just to watch it again. The game play was a lot of fun also, loved the special stages and the fact you had to go to the past and save the future.

My favorite 3-D sonic game would have to be, well it's Shadow the hedgehog, while not a popular choice it is mine. I played it when I was a kid and had no idea what was really going on story-wise, that being said I did slightly figure something out when I played the game with my friend and their mom saw what we were doing, easy to say I wasn't allowed to bring it over anymore. But that aside I loved the game play and shooting, even now I still like it a bit more now that I understand the story.

Sonic 3 and Knuckles will probably always be my favorite. It was my first one, so it has nostalgia going for it. It also introduces Knuckles to the series. I also think that the Michael Jackson involvement mystery is pretty cool too.

My favorite 3D one is, no joke, Sonic the Fighters. I've only ever played it as an arcade game and it was always a blast. It was literally the only redeeming factor about the local Chuck E. Cheese.

Mine would be sonic the hedgehog 2, sonic heroes and sonic 3d blast Sega Saturn. But I like sonic heroes more lol. Because of the talking morely the music as well. I rinsed sonic heroes more because I enjoyed it that much. I don't have the game with me now but I do hope buying it again whenever I can. ^^

My favorite 2-Dimensional Sonic game is Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and my favorite 3-Dimensional Sonic game is Sonic Adventure 2, as I really can't say Generations here because that barely had any 3D sections that felt like honest 3D sections instead of 2D from a 3rd Person perspective.

My favorite 2D Sonic game, and my favorite Sonic game of all time, is Sonic 3 & Knuckles. All three of the characters you could play as had their own special ability (Sonic had the insta shield and he could utilize the "secondary" uses for the elemental shields, Tails could fly, and Knuckles could glide and climb walls) and you could also play as the classic combo, Sonic and Tails. There were a lot of zones to go through, and I loved the before mentioned elemental shields. The bubble shield allowed you to breath underwater (the worse thing about being underwater is drowning, and this eliminated that), the fire shield protected you from fire, and the electricity shield protected from (of course) electricity. I'd go more in depth, but then this would become a review .

I don't feel right about choosing a favorite 3D Sonic game, since I don't have nearly as much experience with them as I've had with the 2D titles ;-;.

My favorite Sonic game in 2D would have to be Sonic 3 for Genesis. I love how they used Knuckles as a villain for his premiere.
My favorite 3D Sonic game would be Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the amazing game play, awesome story, and the Chao Garden / mini-games XD
