Get ready for the Vizzed Court!

The Vizzed Court is where you can get your Internet justice, all here on Vizzed. Did someone do something to you on Vizzed? Settle it here! Did someone break a rule? Settle it here! This court is based on Reddit's /r/KarmaCourt. There are its differences, though. Maybe right now, but at a later date, Viz can be used to settle the issues. For example, if User 1 copied User 2's post, User 2 might be paid up to 25,000 Viz by User 1 or suspension of account. But that's fictional. There are many examples of something you can take to court. Just PM me, and we'll take it to court!

Things to do:
1. get jury
2. get lawyers
3. get judges (I can do that most of the time)
4. get people to back me up

The idea of lawyers and a jury isn't going to work. For example, if a user plagiarised a game guide, it's up to the moderators to ignore words and revoke Viz. No lawyer should try to convince them not to, it's what happens when you break the rules.

In the memberlist you can click on system users, and it will give you a list of accounts you can send your problem to. If a user flamed you in PM, send your problem to the global moderators so they can handle it. The person who flamed you might not want the issue to be out for everyone to see.

The staff system here takes care of pretty much any problem.

Furret : Well, I definitely see what you mean. This Vizzed Court is in its baby steps, and things will change. I was actually also thinking about the idea of jury and lawyers, and it might not be necessary. If anything, it's just defendant, plaintiff, and judge. But it all depends on what the situation is.

I think this was done long ago. I have to say that it was quite entertaining back then, too. 

I think this would only work in cases where two users are having an argument, not when it's something that has to do with plagiarized guides or porn posting.



if it's limited to interactions with users, I can see how this could become a thing.

I shouldn't have to explain why this is a bad idea.

We've had Vizzed Courts in the past, and they were all horrible. Never again.

Anyway, these kind of disputes have been usually settled without kangaroo courts. But if there is/will be need for this kind of things, I say the judges should be voted for by the users. None of this "hey, I can be one since I have the free time"- kind of deals. 

I think there was an entire thing about having a trial for this one user who I've forgotten the name of, although I'm not entirely sure if it was really a Vizzed Court or not. But leggy has a lot more experience with this stuff than I do, so chances are, he's correct on the assumption that this will not be a good idea, especially since he's probably been present for any "Vizzed Court" that happened, ever. In other words, leggy said it so it's probably true.

Courts work in cases where there's really a decision to be made, like in a lawsuit between a publisher and a person who believes they were libeled in a book published by that publisher. But all the evidence is right here, and we already have a team of moderators that act as judge, jury, and executioner. A court would just unnecessarily complicate things.

Brigand : Yeah, it was a few years ago. The user was Austin98 (who was also annoying user Jacob98 and Jacob99). He was one of the spammiest, immature (for his age), bothersome, ridiculous user we have seen in a while. It was decided that enough was enough when he made a Vizzed Court thread against Jigsaw and Geeogree, summoned the global mods and tried to order them to be juries, summoned other staff demanding they be lawyers, and summoned David demanding he be the judge. Also, he advertised in his thread that he had the support of all the staff and David to do this. So it was decided to flip it around and put him on trial instead. Granted, he had a LOT of crap that should have gotten him banned 50 times over. But it turned into a thread that was an all out attack that got completely out of hand. It was pretty crazy.

I still remember Jigsaw from my early days. No wonder he seemed always kind of... tired.

Not only that, but a few years prior to that (when I was still new) there was an ACTUAL case between Geeo and JS, which had members vote on who was in the right. It was one of the ugliest, most awful experiences ever, and almost turned me off on staying with Vizzed.

rcarter2 : I think I actually remember participating in that, lol. I was also immature and bothersome at that point in time. At least, in my opinion. I still have a sent PM in my box about that. Now that I know a little bit more about the Internet, I'm questioning whether or not he was just some weird, extremely elaborate troll. The world may never know!
